TWD - Nvidia driver stop working
 
Hello,
I have problems with the game during playing.
The game (bought on Steam) start correctly, but after few minutes of the first episode the screen turn to black for 2/3 seconds and returns to game (it seems to reinitialize the graphic card). This happens two/three times and then the game crash and return to desktop showing me a notification about Nvidia drivers kernel stopped to work and was reset.

I made some tests with graphics settings and disabling the shadows the game seems to work, but not entirely. This time I was able to play for 10/15 minutes and then the game crashed again freezing my machine, force me to do an hard reset.

I have two screen plugged to the video card, but disconnecting (via software) the secondary screen the problems remains the same.

I need a fix to play this game.

This sounds like your GPU might be overheating after playing for a while.
Please log your GPU and CPU status while playing until it crashes again.

Logging your CPU and GPU Temperatures

CPU: Download Core Temp. Start it and activate logging in the menu under "Tools/Logging on".

The log file created is called similar to "CT-Log [TIME][DATE].csv".

GPU: Download GPU-Z.
Start it, select the "sensors" tab, and activate "Log to File" at the bottom of the window.
Choose a location for the log file.

Run the game until it crashes.

Zip the files and attach them to a reply in this thread.

Thanks for your fast reply,
as I suspected the temperature is not the problem because I cleaned case fans 2 months ago and I can play games graphically more sofisticated than Walking Dead without overheating.

I started a new game slot (shadows was off in graphics setup) and this time the game crashed after I was out of the police car.
Windows reports the message "Walkingdead101.exe has stopped working", no message about kernel stop or machine freeze, just returns to desktop.

I installed the latest Nvidia drivers (310.70) with physx enabled on GPU.

In attach the sensors logs.

You are right, the temperatures are fine.

Two things you could try:
- Unplugging the cable of your second display
- Running the game during a clean boot (see below)

Booting clean in Windows Vista / 7:
1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
4. Select the Services tab
5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
6. Click Disable all
7. If running the game on Steam, re-check the "Steam Client Service"
8. Click on OK
9. Click Restart.
10. After reboot, run the game to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your settings by doing the following:

1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
3. Click Ok
4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

Same problem after formatting
 
Hello,
I tried all the things you suggest me (clean boot and unplug secondary monitor), but the problem remains the same even now that I formatted the system.

In these days after a disk change windows refuses to startup, so I formated and reinstalled the system (still windows 7 64bit sp1) and downloaded a fresh copy of TWD from steam and latest Nvidia driver, but I have the same problems.

The game after a while try to reinitialize the graphic card and than crash to desktop with the error "Walkingdead101.exe has stopped working".

I think it's a problem of compatibility with my graphic card (NVDIA 9800GT) and the developers should make a fix for this.

Hello,
reading this forum it seems many other users have problems with the game.
I think Telletale should fix this bugs, many people have trusted them buying a legal copy of the game.

Is there any news about a patch for the game?
