Release date discussion!

Whyyyyy!?

Will 06/05/2008 01:59 pm

Because the game will be *that much better*.

ShaggE 06/05/2008 02:00 pm

Oh, I know it, but I still stand by my Kenan-esque "Whyyyy!?" :p

Maratanos 06/05/2008 02:01 pm

Don't go all crazy on us. Remember that your number 1 selling point for episodic gaming is that you actually deliver on time. I trust that you know what you're doing, but hopefully this won't happen too much, or we'll start to get all disillusioned.

Well, I think that's more important once the season's underway, that each episode hit the scheduled "air" date. I mean, this is still a delay, and that sucks, but they didn't actually release a complete public schedule for all the episodes yet, nor did they start taking orders, so it's not too bad. If they saw that things were getting tight, it's better to delay the whole series by a month than launch now and risk not being able to deliver on the real dates, or not being able to do so with the level of quality we expect. As the Brothers Chapman suggested, this can only help the games.

I did think it was kinda weird that we hadn't seen a full schedule released yet this close to the supposed launch, unlike with Sam & Max. I guess this is why. Anywho, roll on July!

Juhsayngul 06/05/2008 02:38 pm

That's alright with me. As long as the game is gettin' better!

(Or if Nintendo just feels like pushing it back because the schedule is at their mercy)

Talk down to people a little more, you'll go places. "Remember," if our biggest strength is that we release on time, that wouldn't be saying much for our games. We're proud that we shipped two seasons of Sam & Max on time, and once we start with SBCG4AP the schedule will hold, but what's most important to us is that we ship good games. We moved the launch of the season (less than a month) to make the game better. I'm sure you'd rather be playing a polished game in July than an unfinished one in June.

Darkblade07 06/05/2008 02:51 pm

That stinks!!! I know its for a good reason
but I wish it was in June!!!

You Better Make This Good, I Want This To Distract Me Till Sam And Max Season 3?!?!?!

langley 06/05/2008 03:38 pm

Guess we can't win the "Telltale Games: #1 For Releasing Games on Time" award. It's the biggest disappointment for me since I lost the "Perfect Attendance" award in grammar school.

(Yeah, we'd rather be known for making good games.)

Strong Awesome 06/05/2008 03:47 pm

I don't know about this.
1. This has happened with many other games. THE WEBSITE WANTS TO TRICK YOU
Website: yes, yes I do
2. ALL I SEE IS 2 TITLES AND LIKE 10 BOXES

we'd better!

MarkDarin 06/05/2008 03:56 pm

Oh, great NOW you tell me! And all this time we've been focused on making a really mediocre game. Well, I guess we'll just have to start over.

God, it's going to be Duke Nukem Forever... I know it. *sobs* Edit: <---- I'm joking.

MarkDarin 06/05/2008 04:08 pm

Don't panic. This game wont go into infinite delays. It's pretty much finished now, but there are some loose ends that just need to be cleaned up. I know you guys don't want a sloppy game with unfinished features. And I'm sure you guys can respect the need to want to get everything just right. You don't want to play a half-assed game and we don't want to put out anything that will let down our fans. Quality is something worth waiting for, and I assure you that you wont have to wait much longer, but you will appreciate that you did!

Strong Awesome 06/05/2008 04:17 pm

what ever you do, DO NOT go down the SSBB road DELAYED FOR LIKE 6 MONTHS!!!!!!! PLease don't do this.

*Michael Scott voice* That's what VALVE said! */Michael Scott voice*

I keed, of course. I survived the GTAIV delay, so a month is but a pittance.

tabacco 06/05/2008 04:39 pm

It's only a month if you assume the game was originally coming out June 1. Hint: When game developers say "June" or "Q2 2009", they generally don't mean the first day. They mean "Sometime within that timeframe"
