Is there any way to show all clickable objects? [yes - press F4]
Hi,
is there any way (pressing a key) to show any clickable objects in a location? Because mostly im just stuck, because I didnt search every milimeter of the screen. Itīs a bit frustrating, if you have to do that. If its not in yet, please Telltale put in some option like this, because searching the screen for objects is not nice. |
Nope
and please dont put this option thats just retarded |
Well for me its retarted not to have an option like that, because I want to solve riddles, not to search for objects. If its in, just donīt use it, if you donīt like it.

solving riddles involves finding stuff

Well whatever you guys trying to tell me. In my opinion is searching Stuff not a real riddle. Itīs pure searching on the screen with your mouse. Thatīs (in my opinion) boring. Riddles are riddles, searching is searching.

Aside from puzzles, It's like the second most important thing. |
got to agree testdas, a clickable area showing button is always a good idea.
However in telltale games most clickable bits are pretty obvious anyway so its not the end of the world they dont have it. Games like The Secret Files though, which do have an option to show clickable areas, would be much the worse for not having it.. Pixel hunts have to be the WORST part of point and click adventures! Not being able to progress cos you didn't mouse over those few non-descript pixels! The Runaway in particular wa awful for this and thats why i didn't get very far with it... |

There wasn't a button like that in the other Monkey Islands either, so why would they add one to Tales? |
Sticking to old strength is good, but I never considered searching for objects as a strength of monkey island.
If you think it is, im ok with that. I also donīt want to cry about it, I just donīt like searching, but this still doesnīt mean, that I donīt like the game. Iīm happy with or better I love it. |
Then why are you complaining about this? With a function like this, the games would be extremely easy and too fast to complete.
You said you liked the riddles..? Then why do you have to search through all objects? Why can't you solve the riddle and then click on the right things? If you keep your eyes open, you don't have to search for things.. you'll remember where they are. Quote:

I played at graphics setting 7, and F4 did show clickable items. True, mouseing up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down over the entire screen to see if an item description comes up is part of adventure games. Please help yourself to playing your game that way.. I'll be over here, very occasionally pressing F4, enjoying my experience and not getting carpal tunnel from all the pointless mousing I'll be doing. The "F4" option is required for adventure games from here on out. We have the technology. Let's embrace it. Adventure games could use all the help they can get to gain some level of mainstream acceptance. The best part is: if you don't -want- to use it, you don't have to.. but I still will every so often. :) aahh

It's all part of the fun, like in curse, when you die the first time, you see a tomb with a coffin in the middle, you assume that's you, and you click and click the coffin but nothing will ever happen. Searching the screen you find your're actually in a coffin in the corner lol.
And to be fair, there wasn't really that much to find in narwhal, nor were the items hidden. |
I must admit to using the highlighting option in Wallace & Gromit and being quite happy with it. Episode 1 and 2 I only managed to complete after reading the walkthrough, all the times needing the walkthrough it turned out I'd missed something clickable (Especially some flowers I thought part of the backdrop almost out of the screen)
Episode 3 I stumbled across the feature and have completed it without resorting to looking for hints. Few places I got a bit stumped but it was so much more fun to complete the episode with only a few hints as to where I might have missed clicking, compared to having to go out and find a walkthrough to point out something I missed that could be clickable. It all depends on how good you are at adventure games I guess. But being stuck rubbing every object against everything, seeing and hearing the same animation over and over, merely because you've missed a clickable object...it just sorta subtracts from the fun. Solving a riddle after some thought and trial and error leaves you happy you managed to figure it out. Solving a riddle after you finally manage to stumble across something you didn't know you could click after having spent half an hour trying every little combination you can think of, that's just frustrating. |
Yeah I found the F4 key function useful and yet not too revealing.
