I generally agree that this episode, while great and funny, had some sloppy/illogical puzzles. In addition to the ones mentioned in the original post, I was kind of irritated by the puzzle to distract the two pirates guarding the chest.

Making both a wrong and right solution be two identically-worded branches of a dialogue tree is pretty counter-intuitive. And when you've got a lovely 3-D game with such cinematic camera angles, it's hard to tell the difference, spatially-speaking, in where they were facing. It really didn't seem like they'd see the chest while looking back towards the jungle, anyways.
