Fair enough, that's my bad. You just mention
an Adventure Game Studio and I thought... well, you get the idea.
I gave the demo a try and my initial predictions were bang on the money. The 3D models are nice, but really don't hold up very well when looked at close up, which the game tends to do on a rather frequent basis. Also, while it's great hearing the voice of Susan Ivanova, the lead character (Jackie) has an extremely annoying voice that really does put me off the character, and by extension the game.
That said, I did like having a reminder of your immediate goal in the top left. I can think of certain other adventure games that could use a feature like that. Might want to avoid drawing quite so much attention to it though. Things like that work best as a reminder.
In bullet points:
- I liked the main menu with the fridge magnets. Seemed fitting.
- The option to skip lines of dialogue doesn't work. Lift-clicking does nothing. On a related note, I couldn't skip cutscenes, as pressing Escape just brought up the main menu.
- The voice in the tutorial is too quiet by default. Hard to hear.
- The game actually froze on me while I was trying to adjust the music FX. This may be a one-off, but even so...
And you could make it a little clearer on your website that the first episode can also be used as a demo. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.
