I think we can expect the both of them to be zombified regardless of your choices. Initially I thought "Hey, this picking between the two of them will branch into entirely different games, I'd better be very careful in my choice lest I regret it." After the second episode and the way in which the person I chose to save was segregated from the group and had no impact on the outcome of the over-arching story at all, I can safely say not only do I not regret who I saved, but also that I don't thing it will matter at all in the scheme of things. I'm afraid it was a superficial choice, much like most of them.
