FINALLY got it fixed. Used a proxy to manually download the files with the links from the
Inofficial Fix thread and pressed GET, it jumped to installed right away and my save files are intact. Although I'm seriously considering not buying seasonal Telltale Games anymore and go with them once they're fully released.
