I would not let Vernon take care of Clementine. He couldn't even shoot Lee when he accidentally infiltrated their hideout. If he can't defend himself against strangers, what makes you think he can keep Clementine safe? She'll be stuck with a bunch of old sick folks who can barely survive. I don't care if he had kids of his own, this is the apocalypse not normal society as we used to know what it was. It's like what Chuck said, you're not a man, a woman, a boy, a girl, a child, you're either living or you ain't. I doubt Vernon would ever let Clementine handle a loaded gun. If she doesn't know how to use a gun she'll never survive in this world.
