I wanted to badly to hate Harry Potter but once someone finally convinced me to read it, I couldn't put it down. By the time the seventh book came out, I was so hooking I think I read it all in one sitting the same afternoon it was released.
Also, Pan's Labyrinth. A surreal, Spanish-language fantasy/horror? Yeah I really didn't think that was for me. I couldn't have been more wrong.
