How on earth was it a bad ending? Because Lee died? That's what makes it so great - the fact that no matter how much you do to try and rescue Clem (which given the odds stacked against Lee to begin with, is a feat in itself given his state towards the end of the game) you die? I think it had to end that way. This story is about Lee teaching Clem and helping her survive in this new world. eventually, there needs to come a point where you let go of the child's hand.
The Walking Dead has never been known for happy endings, and I hope it stays that way.
