It may be rare to show the death of a child on screen, but there are plenty of films of the death of a child. A notable one being the original Night of the Living Dead. That showed a girl come back a a walker (Term not used in movie) and kill both her parents. For the Happy-Go-Lucky 60's, pretty dark.
