I love the graphics as they are. I know there is some work to be done, but if it came down to either having great graphics or keeping the comic book feel, I'd opt to keep the comic book feel. Too, I suspect that it helps with churning them out every couple of months. If they were doing super-spiffy graphics, making sure everything was perfect, I imagine we'd be getting them every few months, in stead. (Having said all that, I am in no way a graphics designer or game engineer or any such thing lol. Don't have a clue!)
I would expect the GotY release to have these minor issues solved, however.
