Default Rocko's Modern Life and Crafting a Cartoon

I've been wanting to mention/post a topic about this eBook by Joe Murray (creator of Rocko's Modern Life and Camp Lazlo) for sometime (this seems to be a place who would know Mr Murray or his cartoons).

I haven't read it in its entirety yet, but from what I read and the subject matter, it looks like an enjoyable read. It's part autobiography, part how-to book.

Personally, I don't agree with his political beliefs, but I fully respect him as an artist, interesting outlook, and for creating Rocko's Modern Life (one of my favorite cartoons growing up).

To buy/read it, go here:
http://joemurraystudio.com/blog/?page_id=593

AND, If you hear about any special offers from now and tomorrow, you definitely didn't hear it from me.

Rocko's Modern Life was about a million times better than Camp Lazlo, I thought. At first, I was really excited Joe Murray was making another cartoon. But although I did enjoy it, it just didn't reach the awesomeness Rocko did.

I gave Camp Lazlo more than enough time to make a good episode because I had faith in the creator. It fell very short of my standards.

The problem is, it would be hard to make something like Rocko these days. The twisted humor, violence, and innuendos just don't fly anymore.

Aye, but this is the age of "violence on TV made mah boy kill a homeless person like in that Grand Steal Car game!".

I was kinda disappointed with Camp Lazlo also, but the quality did improve at its last season though (they added character development and stuck some odd scenarios in the episodes). I couldn't watch the last episodes because once Cartoon Network aired them, they took the show off air.

I didn't stick around for the last season. Can you buy it anywhere?

Rocko's Modern Life, imo, was a direct descendant of "Ren and Stimpy" the show that "Reinvented the situation comedy" (cant remember the source of that quote...) And sadly, I agree, that kind of series would be hard-pressed to be shown on TV, except *maybe* late at night on something like "adult swim" and even that might be pushing it...

None the less love the series, though at times it got a bit too wacky (groan-y) even for me
