If (never going to happen) for some reason you wasn't happy with monkey island 5's dialogue graphics humour etc ( I mean extremely bad in every detail, like.....just awful you get the idea) would you still agree to voice the character to give the game a redeeming feature or would you turn it down so you wasnt involved with the destructuion of the monkey island franchise?

Its never going to happen im just curious as you are a big fan also
Love you and the series

Hey, just thought I'd jump in and ask a little question:
What are you eating on the 4th of July? Since you're a chef I didn't know if you were just going to do the traditional hot dogs or steak or whatever.
Yeah, stupid question, I know. But I had to ask something!!!
Also, how tall do you think Guybrush is?

"I can't die, I've got a five-game contract with LucasArts!"
- Guybrush Threepwood

Did you really believe in this line prior to the TMI announcement?

On a side note, I think of TMI as Monkey Island 6, seeing as that's the setting (set after an imaginary MI5) so I believe that Telltale/LucasArts will eventually make a "MI5" game. What do you think?

Haven't TTG said many many times that this is MI5 and not MI6 already?

yeah, it's placed after an imaginary adventure of Guybrush, this doesn't mean there has to be an actual game of this. (They shouldn't have called that adventure MI5, it's verry confusing )

Maybe we, as fans, should do it. You know, just a little fan game. That would be cool!

Hey Dom, just wanted to say it's super cool you're answering all these questions. I always thought it was awesome how you've always been willing to hang out with MI fans (I used to be a IRC #monkeyisland regular, but never used to say much!) I've recently been living under a rock, and only found out today about both TMI and the remake of MI1... totally best day ever!

My somewhat random questions for you: How long can VO recording sessions be before you start to get a sore voice or go raspy? Is there some kind of union standard? And speaking of funny voices, did you actually inhale helium for CMI or was that a digital effect?

First of: thanks for answering every single question us fans throw at you. You're awesome!

Now for my question: Do you have any idea why Guybrush hates porcelain? What are your thoughts on porcelain?

I'm pretty certain that was a digital effect. If you listen, the clips are all shorter as well - all they did was make it so that if Guybrush had inhaled helium, the clip would be sped up a couple of times.

Hi Dominic,

Just saying what a great job you do for the voice of Guybrush. I can't imagine any other person for the part!

Glad to see you're back! I've been mentioning it to all my nerdy PC game friends from way back when, but they all somehow missed Monkey Island and only got hit with Sam & Max. Either way, I'll twist some arms and get them in on it.

2 days to go!

hey,

is it such a detached experience in the voice booth that you can easily sit down and play the game despite hearing your own performance through the character on screen? I get the feeling you're not self-concious about your voice but then again you really can't be if you decide to go into voice acting?

Best
Ken

It looks as though Telltale is toning MI's notoriously challenging puzzles down a few notches, so there will be fewer hair-ripping frustrations. Do you think that this will do anything towards making the series more accessible?

Hey there Dominic!
I'll preface my questions with the usual:
Huge fan of yours. Curse of Monkey Island is easily my favourite game of the series. The combination of the beautiful art, incredible music and your fantastic voice made it something else entirely. You were absolutely perfect for Guybrush, I didn't even stop to think how I'd imagined his voice before, I just loved it from the start. I always try to imagine your voice when I play the earlier games. I'm looking forward to seeing how accurate I was when the Special Edition comes out!

Anyway, I've read all your answers, and here's a couple of questions I'm not sure you've covered.

1) In the thread at the top talking to the developers, lots of people have voiced their dislike of Escape from Monkey Island. Clearly the decisions that led to this reaction were not in your hands, but what are your personal thoughts? What did you think of the game, and what did you think of the story? Personally, I hated the shit in graphics, and I didn't really get on with Monkey Kombat, the controls or even the story twists (a main villain who isn't Le Chuck?!?). I know you put your heart and soul into Guybrush, but I'm afraid it's a little less convincing when I'm not immersed in the world. That's not to say you weren't the star of the show!

2) How do you feel about the fact that Ron Gilbert's expressed dislike at some of the story decisions? You said you were ok with Guybrush and Elaine getting married (if I remember correctly), but there's a certain sense that the definitive story's been lost with the shift in script-writers. What do you think?

3) In an interview with David Hayter (voice of Solid Snake, aka Metal Gear Solid), he said he's often found that he's recorded all the lines for one of the games and then when he played it later he wished he'd recorded the line differently. Presumably all about the context of the line (you were talking about that earlier). Does this happen to you much, or are your Directors too good?

Thanks for your time!
