But that line is from the original version of the game, it wasn't added to the SE. If they do make a MI 2 SE it won't come out for a long while.

Actually "now turn off your computer and go to sleep" was in the original

Hmm, I was going by what a few other people said in another thread. In that case, then MI 2 is likely (but I think we all knew that) but it could just be referring to ToMI.

Even so, MI 2 SE won't come out for at least a year - year and a half.

If it was TOMI it would've been "Guybrush has returned."

In context I think it's pretty clear it's referring to MI2.

Maybe.... or maybe they put it in to tie in with ToMI...

I seriously doubt it will take them that long. I mean, lets face it, if they are doing it chances are they are already well under way. Also given the fact that the original remake and Tales is doing so well I would think that they are going to want to take advantage of the current Monkey Island/LucasFilm revival.

Considering how well it sold, they WILL make another one. Whether we like it or not is a different topic.
And BTW, dott does NOT need to be remade. it just needs to be made compatible with modern day systems.

It needs work. The backgrounds and sprites, if not redrawn (which they should be) need to be re-scanned at a higher res and the audio and speech also needs to be less compressed.

I've just finished replaying MI2 a few hours ago, and I'd have to say I wouldn't really want to see a special edition. Not because I don't like the game, but because I think it's practically perfect as it is.

A lot of the game, I couldn't see working if it was modernised.
Bar rescanning the original background art at a higher resolution, I don't think that could be improved.
Several parts of the game, I can't picture working with voice acting, like the skeleton dance, and while characters constantly talking in the background in a some scenes was great for atmosphere, I reckon it'd get annoying extremely quickly with voiceovers.

The one thing that I think could really be improved would be the midi background music, but on my last playthrough, I set up a few orchestrated soundfonts, and the difference it made was really surprising.

I'd agree to a certain extent, apparently the problem with the MI2 backgrounds is they were painted on to 8x8" cards and would look less than perfect blown up to 1080p.

But still we have some amazing Photoshop plugins these days, there's a few threads over on mixnmojo with some really nicely enhanced screenshots.

Using similar techniques on high quality scans of the original art might be the way Lucasarts go, I really hope they kept it all...

errrrrr no!
1. Old? Its dated 17th june, 1 month ago.
2. He said they dont have plan for any more releases. This doesnt mean they wont make any in the future, but it also means that they have not began working on another SE like other people in this thread thinks.

IMO

Yes, old. We have all seen that. They would have already plans to do more remakes, maybe even started them already. You know publishers and devs say these things all the time right, then it turns out they have been doing the exact opposite.

Just because they say they have no plans doesn't mean they haven't. It's basically a "buy our game for more" plea. You can bet there are at least plans for more, no matter what they tell us.
