Default The Real Life Version of Stan

When I was doing some research for university I came across a video of a guy trying to sell random things like some sort of internet salesman who seems to sell via videos for multiple different companies.

The strange thing is though, although you guys may not agree with me I feel as if this guy is very close to a real life version of Stan without the clothes of course:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k__JxinU5E

Every time I see him I immediately think of Stan. Does anyone else see this or is it just me? And is there anyone else in real life, celebrity or otherwise, that reminds you guys of characters from MI?

Haha. Here's a couple more pics of Tom Antion in his younger years. Besides the clothes I think he's very Stan-Like:-

I really don't think a real life Stan can be selling anything other than used cars. In the 80s.

I don't have a picture of him (because it would be creepy if I did), but my math teacher kinda reminds me of Guybrush. He's dorky and sarcastic like Guybrush. He even kinda looks like him.

He doesn't talk fast enough to be Stan, but then none of the voice actors have ever done him talking fast enough to properly portray him in the same way I perceived him when I first saw him in SoMI. I've always felt that he is the kind of salesman to speak so fast and continuously that you can never get a word in edgewise and don't have the time to really take in what he's saying as he bombards you with his spiel. All the VAs seem to portray him as talking much slower, more slurry which just doesn't do it for me. Sorry.

same goes for me. can't actually complain about the voice acting though, the Telltale Stan was magnificent.

I think Stan was originally based off the ads by a used car salesman in San Francisco. I don't remember where I read this, though, and I can't find it, so take that with a grain of salt.

His acting in Tales was definitely the best he's had so far. It's the first Stan voice acting appearance that I can actually live with. I hated his voice in Curse, it was a bit better in Escape though that interpretation had its own flaws, and I now am finally happy with him in a game in Tales. If there is one really good thing I can say about Tales, it would be that they really know how to bring back the classic characters well when they do it.

Yeah. I'm of the opinion that, while Escape's Stan had its own set of issues, overall the performance was better. Tales has been the first time I've really been happy with Stan's performance, though.

That could well be true. Tim Schafer said he based Stan on used car salesmen in EDGE a few months back:

"I came up with Stan, the used-ship salesman - that was really fun, because Steve did this great animation for him, and I researched how used-car salesmen try to sell you things and pile on the options and stuff. It was great!"
