Guybrush doesn't know which gum is the spirit gum.
You can't get the gum the first time around.
Have you gotten any items from the jail cell?
You need to get the mug from the jail cell.
Maybe you should follow Winslow's advice and check out your body from spirit form.
See anything different about your body?
There's a mug in your hand now.
What's lying above your body?
Get the judge to throw a dart at the root beer barrels by scaring him.
Okay, so now go back and have Winslow send you to your body again, and get thrown in jail.
So what do you now have in your inventory that SPIRITs respond to?

Answer: Use root beer with windowsill

Hey, I'm having the same problem. When I go to the Bar, I see the mug, but it's floating in space. What do I do??

No I mean after I get the gum and become a zombie! The guide says:

"Another visit to Club 41 sounds like a good bet, so journey through the rift in the Swordfighters area and grab the blindfold from the wall, done with sight! Now for a flavorless taste, what could be better than already-chewed gum? Talk to Grindstump and surrender your zombiness to the jail. Grab some of the gum from the ceiling, try not to gag. Back through the stealthy jail exit and into the rip."

I tried this and Guybrush put the gum in his mouth, but spat it out and now he wont do it again. I've tried using items on the gum, but to no avail.

I am in the jail but I can;t seem to do anything.. I click on the gum and he just examines it.. what do I do?

How do you get a feather for the spell? I see the seagull and tried everything on it but can't turn it from 'dead' to 'half dead.'

When the mermaid swims out it causes the locket to swing back, click on the clam and then walk away to release an air bubble to catch the locket
