I think it's amazing Tales of Monkey Island even exists, personally.

Personally I think it's a good thing that the genre turned before the last MI game came out, otherwise Tales would never have been made.

a little research and I bet I know who the guy was insinuating... I wont say though because I'm not sure...

QFT! As I said above it may be a good think LA canned the MI series when they did!

Something like that would be pretty awesome, but of course LucasArts wouldn't have the balls and/or the financial ineptitude to actually even consider doing it, especially years ago. If the Monkey Island franchise is a financial asset NOW, it surely was years ago when the series was closer to its period of prominence.

True, and if the gap between EFMI and the cancelled MI5 had been that size, they would have ended up too similair. The characters would still be ugly, the controls would still feel stiff, and i doubt the puzzles would be the standard of tales.

Ron Gilbert had planned for a trilogy back in the day, and was going to reveal the secret of monkey island in the third game. Haven't heard anything about killing guybrush and destroying monkey island though.

That would have been quite good I guess, but the door to end the series has definitely closed now. It would have been much more valid to end it around MI4 time, but now we're moving on to completely different story arcs it changes the series from "a series that ends once the story's been told" to "a series that moves to a different story once the story's been told".

I hope MI ends right before I die. So I'll never have to live without, and can play every game.
