Dear Telltale-team, and dear Nintendo of Europe,
Well, frustrating does not cover it anymore.
I know, dear Telltale-team, that you do what you can to get the Wii-ports out the door and to your loyal fans as fast as magically possible, but I hope you'll also admit that Nintendo is not doing a great job selling your product, and not really making an effort in generating return on your investment.
To be perfectly honest, this is how I feel: I'm a great fan of the Wii. I'm a great fan of Telltale-games. Being able to play a great adventure from the comfort of my couch, and not behind the screen of my Mac or PC, is a great pleasure.
But, by choosing to support the Wii-version, and being a European consumer, I end up getting a pretty bad deal:
1. The Wii-version is (much) more expensive: 50 euro for 5 Wii-chapters, vs. 26 Euro for PC/Mac. I pay twice (!) as much for the total game on Wii, and ultimately get even less value, since PC/Mac-users can get the free bonus-dvd. No bonus dvd for us EU Wii-gamers who loyally spent 10 Euro/14 USD for each release.
2. I am not part of the Telltale-community: The Telltale-gamer community is a tight-nit community, and an important asset to Telltale as a developer. I, as an EU-consumer feel completely left out of the community, and am even inclined to stay away from reading the forum: while all the US-fans are playing and commenting, I sit here waiting for something to happen in the EU-WiiWare store. No way to contribute, and all the perks for US and PC/Mac-gamers just get rubbed in my face.
3. Nintendo is not willing to sell me the EU-Wii version in a timely fashion, even though Telltale has supplied it to them. Am I such an unvalued consumer that it's necessary to charge me more than US-based consumers, for a product that's delivered later?
4. Nintendo is not making an effort to support legal EU consumers: the lack of information from NoE regarding why they choose not to release the games, or when they are planning to release it, makes me feel like an idiot for supporting them and handing over my money. I get the feeling for being punished for wanting to support a platform I love and a company I would like to love, but simply cannot anymore.
My conclusion of the above: if I want to keep playing and enjoying TellTale-games in Europe, playing on my Mac/PC will get me my games faster, much cheaper, with higher visual quality, better performance, and I support one of my favorite developers directly.
With pain in my heart and a tear in my eye I have to admit: Nintendo, this loyal and faithful fan can no longer say a positive word about how you treat me as a consumer, so therefore I guess it's better to say nothing about you at all anymore.
And to Telltale-games: I'm having a great time playing ToMI, thank you for making it, and Thank You for trying to get this game to an EU-based fan. However, I feel stupid for wanting to play it on the Wii from the comfort of my couch, and am honestly, truly bummed out that I invested in the Wii-version. ( I WANT that bonus-dvd dammit!)
Thank you for listening.
