If Telltale were to try it, I would absolutely have high hopes, but at the same time, I'm not sure I want them to try it. From what I understand, 2D animation is more difficult and expensive than 3D animation these days. Also, Telltale has a relatively small staff, which is why we only see one game at a time from them. I suppose what I'm saying is that with their smaller staff, the episodic format is a really good fit for Telltale, and until the company gets a bit bigger, I doubt we're likely to see anything other than 3D episodic adventure games from them.
Or maybe I'm just babbling.

Well, maybe I shouldn't have said "TTG". I see your point there, you are right about 3D episodes.
But there used to be a whole bunch of MI fan games around, even like 3 years ago. I remember there was this really nice done one called "Picaroon", or something like that. The guys who were designing it did a great job on practically restoring the whole drawing and animation style from Curse, and they had a demo available that you could play also (if you google "Monkey Island fan games" I'm sure you'll bump into it, unless their webside is gone). They even made a plot where Guybrush is swallowed by a whale - tell me if that reminds you of something... lol
I guess you're right about 3D games, and I have nothing against them. But if you make it two-dimensional, pencil drawing and cartoon animation style would probably be the best thing to go with.

The way I see it, the remake of SMI was a move toward Wii owners. Megaman games, I never played them, but maybe it's the same tendency. I say it so because I've never been a big fan of console games (primarly because I never owned one), and maybe it is the thing to do today, but I was left disappointed when 10 years ago the same tendency practically killed LA's desire to make quests in the pursuit of those PS/Nintendo fans.
This looks like a shift in development mentality because the way you say it makes it sound like it's the gamers that count, they don't make games and give them to their discretion anymore, but rather listen to what the gamers want and release the result of their whining lol It sounds a lot like car industry, but please let's not go there we're already off topic.
