Didn't work, I verified permissions and got loads of errors. Repaired permissions, but the following errors still remain.

thanks Kevin.
it worked with me. i'm running 10.5.8
and the game launched without crashing after repairing the permissions.

i was excited when it happened that i forgot to copy the repair message :S and closed the Disk Utility window.

hope it does work with you guys.

I ran software updates on my Macbook Pro to fix an issue with another software package. I installed a variety of updates including the 10.5.8 update, latest Java, latest Quicktime, etc. I wish I had written them all down or done them one at a time but I really wasn't thinking about Monkey Island at the time. In any case, I decided to try Monkey Island Episode 1 again over the weekend (after the updates) and it now works. I'm not sure which update fixed it. It HAS frozen up at least once during each game play requiring a hard restart of the Mac so I save often. Also, at occasionally Guybrush's hair goes crazy and parts of it seem to draw themselves almost down to the ground and then stay that way for the remainder of the play session. It gives my daughters a good "unintentional" laugh! I'll try to grab a screen shot the next time it happens.

Hmm, the thing with Guybrush's hair could be some corrupted data, which redownloading and reinstalling would fix. More likely though, I bet your Macbook is overheating a bit. Maybe elevating it or putting something cool under it would keep the hair from exploding (and likely stop it from crashing as well).

I had the first episode crash on me when I connected my bluetooth mouse while in game. The way TMI is setup, if it crashes you have to to do a hard reboot even if it doesn't take down the operating system because all the keys that would let you switch programs or use expose to get out of the game and kill the process do not work when the game is in its full screen mode.

Other mac games, like World of Warcraft for example, allow you to switch applications while in game so you are not locked out of your computer if it freezes and you can switch between the game and a guide for example. Is there any chance that TMI could be changed to work that way? It would be great if the problem was fixed in the next update.

Repair Disk permissions didn't work for me. Game just quits unexpectedly after I launch it.

I'm running 10.5.8 on my new iMac, but I have the same problem as most have reported here, which is the first episode quits upon launch. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 9400.

This seems to be a random problem as yesterday I played EP 2 and 3, and today they won't launch, or can only get to launch menu.

Just tried launching it again, and all of a sudden Ep 3 is working. The only thing I've done in last 5 minutes is log in and out of Telltale site and when launch menu comes up, right clicked and refreshed page. Don't know, still seems completely random. I also mounted the .DMG file and clicked on game from there. hope something here might help a little. BTW, I'm running imac 20" intel core duo 2.0 ghz 2 GB, and Radeon x1600.

I opened Console, and launched Episode 3. Got to the launch menu, after clicking on Launch Game, it crashed. Here is the report. Hope this might help as well.

I can get TMI Episode 1 to run 99% with no problems. The only legitimate bug I encountered was while trying to get to the big Wind God Idol. After placing the flowers in the well, the windvane rapidly cuts between pointing north and south, while my correct exit direction was east.

Additionally, firing the cannon during the finale resulted in no cannon sound effect. Which was actually kinda funny since Guybrush then makes a remark about deafening explosions or something like that.

Finally, sometimes the camera locks on to a certain angle, even when you run to a different part of a stage that normally cues a camera change. Triggering an autosave and/or exiting to a different area fixes it, but I'm not sure why/how it occurs. Again, not a dealbreaker, but a still a bug.

The only real problem I head was after exiting the game. The TellTale Game launcher fails to reinitialize with play game/quit button options; it just the window background with no options. I can force quit and/or manually close by hitting the window jewel buttons at the top, but it registers as a "unexpected quit." This doesnt happen all the time, however; I can replicate it maybe 50% of the time, more frequently when the game runs at a lower resolution than my computer's native one.

I'm running OSX 10.6.2 on an iMac desktop
3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 RAM

Unhappy TMI hanging on Macbook Pro

Aww.

TMI hanging on Macbook Pro 2.33G ATY,RadeonX1600 256mb graphics.

This is annoying I get 1 or 2 minutes of TMI 101 and it hangs my Macbook completely. I too have a RadeonX1600 256mb graphics card.

I bought the Macheist bundle for this and I'm a longterm Monkey Island fan.

Please - anyone got any settings advice? Anything at all really...
