Exclamation shipping cost ?

hi guys,
i live in italy, and preordered TOMI months ago,
now it says i can get the dvd only paying shipping fees, but
HOW MUCH DOES the SHIPPING COST?
there's no info about it, im sorry i won't make any order until i get all infos regarding costs and time expected.
the only way to get those info is (i guess) to checkout the order, thats not fair!

thank you

Just because you hit the "proceed with checkout" button doesn't mean you're immediately billed for the purchase. You see the complete bill, including shipping, before actually giving the OK.

As for why you can't see shipping before that, the rates change depending on where you live. Before you enter your shipping address, the site has no way of knowing how much it'll cost.

It says as you go to checkout that the shipping costs will be calculated after you enter in the shipping address.
This is also pretty common when ordering things from the Internet.
This has also been discussed in a number of other threads.

I was just about to order my free DVD but the shipping fee stopped me from doing so...

Guys, are your serious? Taking 18 Dollars for sending a single DVD to Germany? For real, if I knew this before I wouldn't have preordered the season :-( Now you got my money so I guess you don't care about anyway. But seriously, you can't be serious with the shipping costs

Yeah imagine my surprise when I read that shipping cost for me is ~65$...

well at least I had spent this amount to buy stuff to reach free shipping promotion instead of just paying for shipping only

Buut I'd rather the shipping cost wasnt this high

anyway, I appreciate the promotion

The guide to free shipping:

In the same order, do the following (before the end of March):

1. Pre-order The Devil's Playhouse
2. Get the deluxe edition of the boxed Tales of Monkey Island
3. ???
4. NO SHIPPING COST, AND YOU GET LOADS OF MORE STUFF!

It would've cost me $18, but then I got the ingenius idea of pre-ordering Sam & Max as well and get the deluxe edition of Monkey Island. In the end, it adds up to $49.90, which apparently is enough for the shipping discount.

But it feels like I'm ripping off poor TTG.

Don't worry, you're not. Telltale don't actually make any profit from the shipping costs.

Telltale still has to pay to ship it to you, whether you pay it directly or not. =P

Yeah, I felt a little bad about the order I made (the $49.90 Sam+Max and Deluxe TOMI DVD) as it probably costs TTG more to ship to me in Australia than the money I'm paying for the Deluxe package. =(

But then I've spent a few hundred dollars with Telltale overall ('specially depending on how much they got from GameTap), and I think we've both ended up having a profitable relationship =)

Pulling on my tinfoil hat and ducking down behind my riot shield I wonder if part of the reason shipping is so high (and $17 to ship a dvd to europe is ridiculous) is to encourage people to buy $50 worth of stuff and get free shipping.

Telltale generally seem like decent folks but they are out to make money at the end of the day and I do give them a black mark for this.

They can't change shipping costs on their own. They have another company handling actually shipping the products out to customers.

The international shipping prices are a definite problem, but nothing to call foul play over.

The shipping cost is ridiculous. I can see that it's been talked about quite a bit already, so I wont go on & on. Needless to say though, regretfully, it looks like I won't be getting my free DVD. $16 to ship a single DVD is ludicrous. I pay far less than that to have something shipped to me from the US from Ebay.

But then THEY have to pay the shipping, so they don't get nearly that much profit as possible...

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but the limited promotion - pay >$50 and get free shipping - does that take into account the $34 odd already paid, or do you have to purchase on top of the FREE DVD, merchandise worth $50?

If that's the case I'm not really that big of a fan of Sam and Max, and that seems to be the only next larger priced item which this promotion is clearly targeted at.
So buy S&M, then Tales merchandise, now its worth $50.
I'm assuming that's how the promotion works?

Yup, the $35,- was for the game WAY back (well, for most) and is not included in the price now (which makes a whole lot of sense, even if a lot of people somehow complain about that).

And yes, the best way to get to the $50,- is by buying Sam&Max 3. If not, you got to get quite some Monkey Island merchandise...

Quite the opposite, we're just as distraught about massive shipping costs as all of you, it does us no favors when people are angry and feel we are taking advantage of them. For now, we are still investigating this problem and best solutions, though I'm glad to hear so many people have gotten more bang for their buck by using the $50 free shipping deal.

Also keep in mind the DVD will remain purchasable for quite a while! If you're optimistic about us dropping costs, then you can wait to order the disc if it makes you more comfortable.

I've been trying to get my hands on a lot of stuff (mostly books) for years and shipping costs have always stopped me from making purchases.

It's just the way it works, it's not fair to blame Telltale as a company for this. International transport costs a lot, there's no getting around that. I guess it depends on distance, on weight, fuel prices, etc. I don't know what's behind all those shipping rates, but I think it goes too far to say it's a conspiracy and transport companies are only making excuses in order to totally rip everyone off.

Usually I rely on eBay. I bought Sam & Max Season 2 from a fellow Belgian who had bought it from Telltale, got the dvd and decided to sell it since he had already downloaded the episodes.

Sometimes waiting pays off and you get lucky.
