Default Controls on a Macbook Pro?

I'm just starting to play this game but can't find any info on the controls using a trackpad.

I know the next step is to "use" cutlass on "chuck the plant" but I can't figure out how to "USE" the cutlass on the plant or how to "USE" any object.

I've tried right clicking on my trackpad which is two fingers as apposed to one but still nothing.

Can anyone clarify the use of a trackpad for gameplay?

Thanks

my normal hint would be don't use a trackpad.
but did you go to the far right of the screen (or hitting tab to open the inventory, I think)?

after that, click on the cutlass and the click on the plant. Right clicking to use the next reasonable option does not work in these games

On the windows version, you can open the inventory in 3 ways:
-Move the mouse to the right of the screen and left click what appears
-Press "tab" on the keyboard
-Middle-click anywhere

If it works the same way on MacOS, the first method would surely work on a trackpad. The 3rd maybe as well, but I don't know if there's a way to middle-click with it.

As far as i know normally there is no middle clicking on Mac Trackpads. I had a Macbook for a few weeks to evaluate it and middle clicking (ideally using 3 Fingers) was something that i would have liked. Back then I looked for ways to enable it but found none.
Now i took another look and there is some software that enables you to middle click with 3 fingers.
It would be interesting to know if that works well.

so it looks like only with outside software/a USB mouse.

I use a trackball so I get left and right click so I just use tab or move to the right of the screen

I'm playing on a MacBook Pro as well, using the trackpad. Move your mouse cursor to the far right, middle of the screen, and a little tab should pop up. Click on that to get to your inventory. Clicking on the cutlass in your inventory should pick it up. Now, drag your finger on the trackpad to move the cutlass out of the inventory. While still holding the cutlass in the mouse cursor, move it over the plant til the name shows up. Then click (or possibly double-click) while you have the cutlass hovering over the plant.

That should do it, and should work for any other cases where you have to use an object from the inventory on something from the environment.

Also, in case you haven't stumbled across this, you can use the arrow keys to move Guybrush around, so you don't have to be click-dragging him all over the place. The click-drag to move him can be a pain with the trackpad.

Happy pirating!

I play on my MacBook Pro, too. To bring up the inventory, press "I" on the keyboard.
