Exclamation Tales Of Monkey Island Rip off? + small review

SPOILERS HERE DON'T LOOK IF YOU HAVNT PLAYED THE GAME

Hi guys :3 You might remmeber me from before, I use to be a lot on the Sam and Max forums when it was hot from the presses. Ive been saving up my pennys to purchase the new Monkey Island and I just finished playing it...it was fantastic! Great stuff Telltale, you did the game justice after all this time. Monkey island 4 let me down a lot but this was perfect. Its also nice to see a more serious theme to the game? I always felt like Guybrush didn't seem phased at all, but this game kinda made me feel like it was a mix of Grim Fandango serious mood with Monkey island, espeically the death of Morgon and the death of Lola. I liked the dirty looks Guybrush gives Morgon when she
betrays him and Guybrush and Morgons death's both almost had me in tears, even if there is a after life watching Guybrush die and be thrown around like a ragdoll too weak to move its really changed the mood in a good way. The game kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Loved the change in bad guys for once, De singe was a colourful character. Telltale has a lovley way in keeping things fresh, new and exciting. However I found the game weirdly easy unlike Sam and Max. Sam and Max was super hard for me, I always needed the hint system, however the last episode was rather hard (I needed the walkthrough in this episode)...and I know Telltale listens to its customers, so perhaps others felt the same? Anyway I wanted to leave this quick review in case Telltale decides to read this, I think they deserve a pat on the back for this excellent game. Thanks Telltale, can't wait for the new Sam and Max and maybe a Tales of Monkey Island season 2?

nvm :c sorry mister bill

You do realize it was made my Bill Tiller, lead artist on "Curse of Monkey Island", right?

Who is Morgon?

You really should space out your posts ionto multiple paragraphs. Makes it easier to read.

Sorry, what was the rip-off part? Was that removed from the original post? What was it that was made by Bill Tiller?

Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island was said to be a Monkey Island rip-off, and then as soon as it was heard that Bill Tiller(background artist for Curse of Monkey Island and all-around talented guy) was heavily involved in the production, the objection was handedly dropped.

It seems funny to me that ANYONE can "own" an idea as nebulous as "a funny game about pirates", but whatever.

I think that everyone realizes he means Morgan. There's no need to underline spelling mistakes of others.

Indeed. I recently got Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island and while I haven't had time to complete it yet, my impression so far it that it's very different game, despite some similarities in theme. Personally it reminds me more of A Vampyre Story than about Tales.

The game's lack of difficulty is really my only criticism, everything else was fantastic.

Yes. Yes there is.

Sometimes it's all for silly sorts of fun (which I think is so here) and at other times it's obvious that some people use the net as an excuse not to learn how to spell correctly.

And anyway, how boring would this place be if we didn't pick at each other occasionally?

To be fair, I'm pretty sure Bill conceived Ghost Pirates before he knew about Tales. The fact that the two games came out at similar times was really unfortunate.

Personally I find it bit distasteful, because in the Internet forums many aren't native English speakers, some posters are really young and large number of people don't have higher level of education. Which means that not everyone is capable of writing perfect Queen's English and it's bit rude to complain about the mistakes of the others, unless you have real problems understanding what they are saying.

Personally I don't mind if someone corrects my language, because I know that my English is quite bad. But I also know that others don't always like about it (unless you're actually their English teacher).

Yeah, I believe Ghost Pirates was in production before Telltale had any idea they were going to make a Monkey Island game. I'm not so sure the timing hurt Autumn Moon though - I think the Monkey Island revival, both through Tales and the Special Editions, might have succeeded in making Ghost Pirates more relevant rather than causing it to get "lost in the shuffle" (after all, the comic supernatural pirate genre still isn't THAT crowded). Either way, both games seemed to have found success, which is great.
