I wasn't totally sure I knew what food the people looked like, then I started questioning whether or not they were sitting by their spouses, and whether across the table counted as being a plate next to another plate or not, and ended up just bombing the puzzle. Seems everyone else just wizzed through that one though
I had some trouble with it, but the only one who didn't resemble any of the foods was burger guy. Other ones had at least something really specific about their resemblence.

He's supposed to look like a cow or something, I think.

Buffalo. It's a buffalo burger.

You should. If the player wants to keep track of how many times they had to try a puzzle to solve it, they'll do it outside of the game- it's the only score that truly means anything (since once you've figured out a solution, any future attempts will almost certainly be perfect). What counts as a mistake on the spectrum of incorrect submissions, from simple misunderstandings to brute trial and error, is a matter of personal discretion, and it shouldn't be necessary to "save scrub" or check against an external walkthrough just to satisfy the blind and unforgiving validation that keeps your playthrough safe from cosmetic smudges.
