Anyone want to go through what order they did the areas after you are charged with rescuing the orphans in. I've done:

Dump
Rich's Cabins area
Evil Monastery
Demon Mines East

Stuck on Nanny Demon

I'm only at the start of that bit. I did however accidentally wonder into those demon mines to the east and got absolutely owned by 2 fairly big demons. So, I think I'll leave that place till last, also.

People seem to really love this game until they read the reviews - Then they always appear a little dissapointed

I agree. It's made me skeptical whether I should purchase it or not now.

Is the general consensus that this is worth a buy or should I just wait until an eventual $5 price drop/sale?

Thanks.

Well, in all honesty... It's already very cheap. I mean for £10($15) you can't really go wrong.

@Avel
Yep, i think it makes a big difference the way you approach the game...

The path of enlightenment: Look, i have a new funny little game and i bought it for only xx.xx bugs.

The trail of desperation: Look, i've got Ron Gilbert's new masterpiece, you know the guy who a.o. designed Monkey Island, and he invested two years of his life into this gaming gem. In interviews he said that he tried to make it the best game and your credit card is only charged by xx.xx dollars, although it might be a little bit more due to the fluctuating exchange rates and the taxes tough.

With the first approach you will be more forgiving with aspects like the inventory or that it's not available for the PC fanbase. The second option makes you, lets say, a little bit less enthusiastic.

I remember in some of the previews that there was supposed to be a little pirate town with a couple of Monkey Island references (named Scurvyville if I remember correctly?) but I couldn't find it... Anyone else found it or has it been cut from the game?

Cut and possibly reserved for sequel, apparently along with WWII land. It was in one of the early teasers for the game which I may or may not have linked to earlier.

I've just finished with 100% at Level 20 - hopefully in the sequel Deathspank will start at 20 and level up to about 40 from there...

Yeah, they cut a lot of stuff, unfortunately. There used to be a dessert, mountains, and monastery area, as well.

There was a monastery - with the 'evil' bell.

So it's basically going to be episodic after all...

Basically.

Sequels = Episodes. Some may not agree, but really, what's the difference? There are different associated connotations, but in gaming reality, they're the same. Whatever definition a game developer attaches to each term is merely subjective. Of course, there's no guarantee there will be another chapter in the story of Deathspank, but it has been implied.

Well I suppose in some way a sequel is usually another episode in a larger story, but that doesn't make every franchise ever made "episodic" in the same sense that people mean when they talk about "episodic gaming". There's no point in getting rid of a useful distinction based solely on a semantic argument.

Hmmm, Ron Gilbert's already left Hothead, will a sequel be done without him or is everything already made, just waiting to be released at a proper time? Is this another case of Ron Gilbert not finishing his projects?

As far as I know he's finished everything he's worked on apart from Monkey Island, and that was because LucasArts beat him to it. I'm not sure where people are getting the notion that there will be a sequel from, though. I'm pretty certain there isn't going to be, Ron Gilbert hasn't said anything about one and neither have Hothead. Since he's left Hothead, I don't see one coming from them either.

Sadly, he didn't finish Good & Evil, which was a shame since it sounded very interesting.

What i don't understand is that he left Hothead, at least this early. Dunno but this sounds kind of weird to me because as far as i know he first designed the game, then as this was done he left, but then Hothead still made changes to the game and it also seems that Gilbert, contrary to Hothead, would have been a strong provider of a computer (PC&Mac) or at least PC platform.

Sounds after a not this perfect contract work and normally people are involved until a game or a project generally is really finshed. Depending on what they do they are less involved at the end but never completely cut out because there always show up certain issues.

But maybe all is fine and this is just their very own special workflow...
