Default Curse of Monkey Island on Windows 7

Hey, I'm thinking about buying Curse of Monkey Island. The product description says "98, 95, and Me" but I was wondering if there was any way to get it to run on Windows 7?

I have Home Premium.

I would either use compatabilty modes or ScummVM. I can play the game on Vista using Windows 95 compatability mode. If you're going to get Curse, I'd get it here, it's where I got it and it'll be hard to find a better price.

I would definately reccomend using ScummVM, as it removes the need to use a disc whilst playing. Plus, I couldn't get it to install on my W7 laptop (The amount of times i've heard that darn monkey in the installbox now....)

Wait, that post confused me a bit. DOES it install on Windows 7 using ScummVM? Why didn't it work on yours?

He means it works if you use ScummVM, but not if you use the normal installer.
When you do install it follow these instructions:
First, create a folder where you can easily find it again, Label it "Curse", "COMI", "Curse of Monkey Island" or whatever you can recognise.
Next, insert disc 1 (ignore the autorun and instead explore the disc) and put these files in the folder you created: The entire Resource folder (just drag the folder, don't take anything out), COMI.LA0 and COMI.LA1
Third, insert disc 2 (again ignore the autorun and explore), and copy COMI.LA2 to the folder, then drag the Resouce folder in this disc in the folder, choose to merge the folders, when it tells you there is a duplicate file choose to replace it.
Finally, Run ScummVM and click the "Add Game" button on the right side, direct it to the folder where you placed the files and click "Choose", on the next window that pops up, click "OK".

Now you're done! To run the game just double-click the name.

If you want to create a shortcut use this location: "C:\Program Files\ScummVM\scummvm.exe" comi

Thanks to the both or you! Glad I'll be able to play it. And thanks for the link to the website. That's at least $10 cheaper than Amazon.

Also, does Escape from Monkey Island run on Windows 7 using ScummVM? Just in case I decide to buy that one too.

I'm afraid ScummVM doesn't support Escape. If I were you I would either look for the PS2 version or ask someone who has Windows 7.

Found something- Escape from Monkey Island Vista Installer.

"This installer works on both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows and has been tested on Windows XP and Vista. It should work fine with all Windows versions though."

Seeing as Vista and 7 are pretty much the same thing, I guess it should work.

Edit: Actually found an archived thread on here through a Google search which claims it works. Yay.

The game came today. Does anyone have a Curse of Monkey Island game icon? Because for some reason that's the only MI game I can't find one for...

Here's the icon that came with the game. Just convert it to an icon. (google "Icon converter")

It looks better when it's actually on the desktop in a smaller size.

Just thinking... add a small arrow to the corner of that image, and you'll have The Cursor of Monkey Island.

... Yep.

I started playing, and the game said it "failed to save the game state to comi.s00" (or something like that). Help? And is control alt delete the only way to quit?

Edit: I think I fixed it. Just have to make sure it actually saves when I try (I set the Save Path).

Alt+Enter, or check "Fullscreen Mode" in options.
