Default Google Chrome "Extensions"

I just got Google Chrome a little while ago & decided to download a few (without thinking about the consequences mind you... I just assumed they were all made by Google & therefore safe) & now I'm curious as to if these things are actually safe to download? If so, anybody know any good one?

I got web of trust (of course I also had that on Internet Explorer), Yahoo Mail Widget for Google Chrome , Facebook for Google Chrome, Adblock, Facebook Photo Zoom & a few that I deleted because they kinda sucked.

If you see any made by the Galactic Empire, they are completely safe. Do not hesitate to download and use them immediately. Typing private information while they are running is perfectly safe.

I have all the ones you mentioned (apart from the Yahoo one) and they seem fine. As far as I know, they should all be safe. As with any other browser, though, there's a chance that some third party add-ons have been made by soviet spies that are trying to steal your personal information, but that's relatively unlikely.

But they are a group of people that I trust with computer information when Google doesn't give me the answer that I'm looking for.

You are acting as if I am the only person to ever ask a question on here... news flash... this is the GENERAL CHAT area which means that you can basically post whatever kind of topic you like & its all fair game. As long as I don't spam the topics with the same question over & over again, I fail to see the problem.

Thank you & good day.

Oh Shit! Soviet Spies!!! Well I guess I'll risk it ;^)

As for the second part of my question... do you know any other good apps?

Google Dictionary is a good one. When you double click a word, a definition comes up. It's pretty handy. Another one is Auto Patchwork, which automatically loads the next page for you as you scroll down (if there is a next page). The only problem I've experienced with it is that it seems to disable the multi-quote function on the Telltale forums. There's also a good app for setting reminders called RemindMe if you're forgetful enough to download it (like I am).

Also, if that facebook app you have doesn't work (when I had it installed, it always told me there were new notifications even when there weren't), try "Facebook Notifications for New Facebook". That one actually works for me, but it has slightly less functionality to it.

Edit: I don't know if it's the same for you, but for me, the option to get to the extensions page (where you can manage the extensions you have installed) disappeared from the settings menu in the latest update. If yours is gone, you can get to it by typing "chrome://extensions" into the address bar.

A few of those sound really handy. I particularly like the dictionary one. Thanks bro =)

Also. I still have the extensions page. Did you maybe accidentally delete it?

Well more than anything I was afraid that they might try identity theft or something because the browser history & such was required. I just didn't want to be screwed because I downloaded something on google's app site that I thought was safe but turned out not to be.

Well apparently, every app you download says that browser history etc. is required as the default warning, even if that information actually isn't required. As far as I can tell, it just means that the developer could have allowed the app to see your browser history if they needed to.
