Default Fables

So, with Fables being one of the games revealed, what do people think? I personally had never heard of it before, I'm looking into it now.

What is other peoples response to this news?

I'm a fan of the comics, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the license. I'm mostly curious about when a game set in the Fables universe would be set, since it's had some pretty major upheavals (to put it mildly) since it started so they'd need to establish a decent jumping on point for people unfamiliar with the series.

I never actually finished reading all of Fables, but this has reminded me that I should go back and pick up where I left off.

I did not know what Fables was before this announcement. The premise sounds in intriguing. I'm interested to see what this game is like.

Fables is one of the best comics on the stands today. When they announced both of their new games, I turned to my wife and said "I think this company was created especially for me."

To be honest, all my comic book nerd friends has been telling me to read this for AGES. To me, it seems to be Being Human with Fairy Tale people instead, which is more interesting then Being Human.

My first thought was "WOOOOOOOOOOO". My second thought was "Hell yes!". Fables is, in my not so humble opinion, the best comic currently being published in the US.

I've only read a few pages of Fable that was published in another comic over here (Sweden). But it actually seemed really good so I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

Interesting!

I'm a huge graphic novels fan, but I haven't read any of Fables untill now... guess it's time to remedy!

@henkebjorklund

Is that Dylan Dog in your avatar?

The only comic I have ever read is The Beano so, despite having read up a little bit on the franchise, I still not sure what to expect.

For those who are more familiar - what kind of game do you think would suit the style and tone? Could it be a bit more for the hardcore adventure fan?

I was gobsmacked, since Fables is my favourite comic series going. So far everything Telltale have made/announced has been something I and/or my boyfriend are fans of (bar The Walking Dead, which I'd been meaning to read for years and now have a solid reason to!).

My only anxiety is that the voices won't be how I've imagined them.

I know the feeling! Is there some sort of probe in my brain that controls Telltale's business decisions?!

Though, honestly, I was never much of a Walking Dead fan. Tried reading the comics and watching the show, but I couldn't get into it.

That's pretty much how I feel, except I never watched the show. Read four of the big hardback graphic novels because one of my friends is a big fan and insisted I would like it, but it just didn't grab me. But since I have little to no interest in zombie-related nonsense in the first place, (unless it involves Simon Pegg) then the odds were against it from the start.

It's a completely arbitrary statement, but I do think that Fables suits Telltale better, if only because I think the fairytale angle suits them better than zombies. I'd really like to know who you'd be playing as in a Fables game, if it's an existing character or a new one, or if you'll control several. Most of all I really want to know when it's going to be set, before the comic starts, at some point in the middle, or where it is now. I think it would be a bit weird setting it at the point it's at now, since they'd have to explain about the whole war with the Adversary and Haven and the Literals. Actually, speaking of the Literals, I wonder if the main character would be Jack. That would kick ass.

Of course, if Telltale ever made a game series based on Lupin III, that would immediately become my Best Thing Ever. I think I'd like that even more than ToMI.

I haven't read Fables, but I do have this irritating habit of needing to click on spoiler tags even when I know it will, in fact, spoil something for me. But in this case, reading the spoiler has left me even more confused than if I hadn't clicked on it. I guess it's time to start reading Fables.

As for The Walking Dead, I loved loved loved that series for years but it got to the point where the story was just too grim and depressing and I had to stop reading it for a while (anyone who's read the book probably knows what point that was). Will be interesting to see if Telltale actually goes as far as the book does.

I just started reading Fables last month. Got the first trade paperback for christmas and I loved it. Anyone have any suggestion for any special parts of the series a newcomer should look into? Or can I just continue with the the trades?

Continue with the trades. I think by the point you reach March of the Wooden Soldiers, you will love it.

Making the main character Jack would be a really good idea. He's a trickster archetype, and his backstory is simple: he's every fabled Jack.

The very best thing Telltale could ever possibly do is make a game based on another Vertigo property: Transmetropolitan. And, by some miracle, do it exactly right.

Could someone with power please move this, this and this to the respective new areas of the forums

Also feel free to rename them to [game name here]: original discussion, or even lock them if you think they are done.
