I thought I had answered that already, sorry.
No, I don't mean you. Plenty of people have complained about post count related issues ever since the thread was moved. I don't see why it's such a big deal that our post counts got smaller, especially when they don't mean anything. I mean, one person can write a long, thoughtful post, and another a one-liner and they're "worth" the same.
Plenty of posts in this thread were pretty much "useless", if we're rating posts, therefore even if we were to count posts it would make sense not to count these (even though a few noteworthy posts were made here and there). But I still think it would be better if they weren't counted at all.
For one thing it would prevent people from posting just to inflate their count, or double posting instead of editing, etc. But also, someone who is new to the forums might base their opinion of other users from a post count, think "oh, this user has lots of post, they must be a reliable member of the community". When the person in question might just be a huge troll or an attention whore, and more quiet but more helpful members would suddenly be considered less "valuable" as far as advice giving goes.
People should be judged by the content of their posts, not how many they have made. I wasn't really bothered by the fact the post count shows because I never look at the thing, and I thought it wasn't really worth changing something I was mostly apathetic about. But if it's starting to cause people to complain, and considering there seems to have been more people trying to inflate their post counts lately than, say, a year ago, I would definitely vote to hide post count if there was a vote about it.
