My brother was playing Bioshock earlier today, and he commented on how the music was "too old". Considering the fact that most of the game's soundtrack was from the past. So what are video games that have old music, you know songs from the 1930's(to the other eras NOT from years when music was changing(pop, rap, anything ghetto). That was used in video games? You can also include songs that were inspired by the music from the past.

I do know Fallout 3 has "dear hearts and gentle people".

Mafia II starts in the winter, and the first part is while it's snowing. "Baby It's Cold Outside" plays on the radio. I thought that was a really nice touch.

Fallout 3 has a lot more then that one song... and Fallout New Vegas has plenty more.

The radio when you're driving around in L.A. Noire has a lot of 40's music for obvious reasons.

But really, what's his problem with Bioshock's music? That's when the game takes place, and the whole asthetic of Rapture is based on the early 1900's.

Almost every period game I've played has been like that. Mafia II, Godfather II, LA Noire, etc.

I really have no idea what my brother's problem is with the music. I guess his mind was sucked in by today's bad music and refuses to see how good the past music can work with things like Bioshock.

The radio kicking in with "Beyond The Sea" was one of the best parts of BioShock's opening. It was a little on-the-nose, but it really got me into that retro mindset.

Doesn't it take place in the eve of 1960?
