Default Legend of Zelda Megathread - Adoring Fan Edition

I thought we should have a thread to discuss the Legend of Zelda games, especially with Skyward Sword so close!

Right now, I'm in the Ice Cavern in Ocarina of Time 3D, and I've done the first three days as Link in Majora's Mask. And in those three days, I've managed to get three pieces of heart (at least), the big bomb bag, and five happy masks (Great Fairy, Bremen, Blast, Kamaro's, and the Bunny Hood).

In the next three days, I'll be getting the adult wallet and doing my first run through Anju and Kafei, granting me another heart piece, Kafei's Mask, the Keaton Mask, and a bottle. Then it's off to do both Woodfall and Snowhead in the three days after that. If all goes to plan, I'll finish this game with the Fierce Deity Mask and complete Bomber's Notebook in eight three day cycles, including the first one as Deku Link.

I am at the Sand Sea in Skyward Sword.

This game... is large. I don't remember how large Twilight Princess was, but this feels quite a bit bigger. I'm not sure that there are as many required collectables (for the completist) but the overall game world feels a lot longer in taking to traverse. The method of navigation between the major areas does cause them to feel more compartmentalized than Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time does (which feel more like a connected open world, imo) but each major area, with all of the obstacles required to traverse each landscape, takes much longer to navigate than Twilight Princess did.

It's as though the landscape is a maze in and of itself, without even considering dungeons.

I have to say, the boss from the Ancient Cistern is friggin' awesome. A serious contender for best zelda boss at least. And the dungeon was awesome too. It was bright and colourful instead of dull and dusky like all the over dungeons in zelda games. And full of memorable moments Zombie rope attack. I'm currently 22 hours into Skyward sword, and four temples in. I've been taking it slow and doing side missions where I can, and just exploring. The game is just amazing.

Finally got the very last heart piece, so my primary file is complete, unless I want to be crazy and try to beat ALL the Thunder Dragon challenges. All that's left is to do Hero Mode. Even counting some of the little annoyances, this has become my favorite Zelda game, with Ocarina of Time shortly behind it.

Yes, that was great. I also very much like the mine cart rollercoaster at the Sand Sea.

That whole dungeon had me thinking "Bugger." throughout.

Oh, and the tears that you collect in the minus world are awesome. Stupid scary statues. Especially when you run out of stamina.

<-------- Still has yet to play Skyward Sword due to needing to finish twighlight princess first.

I hate anything with Water and Temple in the same sentence...the one from Twighlight Princess is no different.

In retrospect, the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time isn't bad. But the Great Bay Temple from Majora's Mask and the Water Temple from Twilight Princess are evil!

I never had that much animosity toward the water temple in Twilight Princess, but Ocarina of Time's water temple annoys me.

No water temple in Wind Waker makes it the best game. Unless you count the entire game being a water temple!!

I'll probably get Skyward Sword for Christmas, but until then I'll have to wait in anguish. :[

Apparently I'm the only entirely non-hydrophobic Zelda fan in existence. I still say the Bottom of the Well is the worst thing in Ocarina of Time (though thankfully almost entirely skippable, save for the short section necessary to get the Lens of Truth), with the Shadow Temple being a close second.

First time I played I did half of the shadow temple without the Lens of Truth. I only had to go get it whenever I couldn't find a hookshot grapple point. (It's that one on the ceiling)

I know the game well enough by now that I really only need the Lens of Truth to reach the one invisible moving platform in the Shadow Temple, to navigate the room outside the boss room, to fight Bongo Bongo, to follow the Spirit Guide, and to get through the Shadow Barrier in Ganon's Castle. And Ocarina of Time 3D makes this easier, as the Hookshot's laser dot changes when it lands on a grapple point.

Yeahhh, that was one of the things in OoT3D that made me go wtf?

The other is the glitch that lets you have the Master Sword as young Link. lol

And the Temple of the Gods (the first half anyway).

Personally, I like the water temples. It's the ice temples I hate. With a passion. Skidding around does not make the game fun! And annoying slide-y block puzzles!

Awww, but watching Toon Link fall flat on his face in The Wind Waker was hilarious!
