Of course the Vita is better. The PSP is half as expensive and older. The Vita can play most downloadable PSP games, so it acts as a PSP for downloadable games, and you can even take advantage of the second stick on the Vita to make PSP games control better than they do on the original PSP.

It will really depend on the titles released for the Vita.. If it gets good games it will be better.

To clarify, it can NOT play PSP games physically, only via download. This is kinda stupid, but you can still download them for whatever price. As for using the second stick to make PSP games better? How does that work? You can use both thumbpads or can you remap things to that thumbpad similar to the 3ds?

Also, barely seen the Vita live(my gamestop DOES have demo units, but I had a good 4 seconds to see it as I was in a hurry) sizing didn't seem to be a problem, but is the screen really showing PS3 quality graphics?

When playing a PSP game, you can map the right analog stick to emulate the face buttons or the action buttons.

They aren't QUITE PS3-quality, but they're very close, and on a screen that size they are "effectively" PS3-quality. The Vita supports all the same graphics shaders and other such things, and while it lags a bit behind its console counterpart, the result is admirable.

As much as I'm enjoying the vita it keeps crashing on me, hopefully that's a software issue as its only happened booting up uncharted. then I get the blinking light of death, well not death, soft reset.
Games i got are:

Uncharted: liking that theres more emphasis on treasure hunting
Ninja Gaiden Sigma: still an awesome game. Ninja trials give the analogues a beating
Escape plan: kind of shit. Controls are poor and akward holding the vita without hitting the touch pad
Rayman origins: rayman origins with relics. Loved it so much I needed to 100% it again

Figures that the best use for that I can think of is in Birth by Sleep.

Kind of an odd comment, but I've seen it popping up so I'll say it.

I hope a lot of people aren't saying the PSP Vita is great JUST cause the graphics are a tiny bit shinier or crisper. Cause that alone is no reason to think something is better.

So like the arrow keys on the PSP can be the second thumbpad? That would be pretty good.

Well that is still a pretty good milestone for handhelds.

the two rather large multitouch screens are certainly not hurting its cause either.

Decent launch titles were nice too, that doesn't happen all the time... I am looking at you 3DS... I wouldnt say I like it better than 3ds though... but I do like it better than psp.

Im thinking about it, gonna see if it keeps happening before I take it back. It happened about 4 times in a row, every time I did a soft reset then booted up uncharted it just kept crashing. Other than that, its only happened once so i'll see what happens

Ive got both vita and PS3 versions of Sigma, there arent any noticable differences other than possibly the framerate. Then again it came out in 2007 so its probably on par with early ps3 games. Everything looks good on such a small sharp screen. Actually, the Dynasty Warriors demo looked incredible. maybe even better than uncharted!

Got my Vita a few days ago. Got the launch special edition, so mine came with a memory card and a game (so long as you sign up for ATT service for 2 months, grumble.)

Sony's corporate BS is definitely a drawback, but that is true of all of its products, and most people are able to get over it for Apple, so I don't see why Sony would be any different.

Ignoring the politics of it, however, the Vita is quite simply the most unique and engaging gaming experience I have had in a long time. It is a perfect marriage of modern smart-device multitasking and traditional gaming functionality. I will sit in my house in front of my 52" TV, PS3, Xbox360 and $1500 gaming PC and play Uncharted (which I bought physically from gamestop) and FFIV (which I bought digitally on the PSN Store) on the Vita for hours. It is a strange phenomenon for me to then be able to take this experience on the road and play in airports and on my lunch breaks.
It is very difficult to describe why the Vita seems so different from anything else, maybe I should have brought a poet... Something about the goal of the system, and its execution of that goal certainly is poetic.
I'm not saying that everyone should buy one, nor am I saying that it will dethrone Nintendo in the handheld market, only that the Playstation Vita is a strange and beautiful creature that has made me feel like I am 8 years old again and unwrapping my first NES.

Golden Abyss. It isn't as good as 2 or 3, but still better than 1, and if you are an Uncharted fan you will have fun.
