Default JOURNEY -An Adventure Game

Is anyone else playing this? You essentially wonder around a desert, finding unix and masking our way to a golden light in the vast instance. It's the best gem made since Swords & Sworcery.

I will, as soon as I get some money. It's top on my list of PSN games I want to buy. Anything that's developed by the same people who made the beautiful 'Flower' will always be considered an essential purchase by me.

Do you recommend playing it in single-player or co-op mode?

You don't get an option. You wander the desert solitary. Once in a while, you will run into someone else. One person. You can either choose to keep going with them or not. You can only communicate via a musical tone. I had to dropout after about an hour of travel with my companion unfortunately, leaving him to traverse the desert in isolation. You don't get to choose when or if you will run into someone else, but if you do, it's on you to work out a communication system, puzzle solving system, etc.

It's friggin awesome.

I dunno.. I am not sold on this at all.. I get that its cool looking ... but its short and seems like it would be really boring a second time around... Plus I watched a video with a dev and even they were like... "uh... whats this supposed to be about again?"

WARNING - Slightly spoilerish but worth reading.

I need to emphasize to everyone on this messageboard just how important this game is.

I just got done crying after finishing the game.

Calling this game isn't justice. It's not a game. This is art. I have rarely, rarely ever thought video games could truly be art. The medium is bogged down by its emphasis on getting players to see what the creators want, or feel what the narrative is trying to convey. Genuine, lasting art, in my opinion, lets you imbue the piece with a bit of your self, your essence, your soul.

Journey has a skeleton narrative. No answers will come in the end. The visions you see will never be explained. The bare ruins never give a lore behind them.

Because none of that is important. This is not a game; it's something you experience. From beginning to end, Journey is a metaphor for your existence on this earth, and everything that you come across along the way. The difficulties, the trials, the joys, the loneliness, the companionship.

For those of you who are spiritual or religious, the final sequence might hold even more meaning, because it captures the essence of what many religious people aspire to attain at the close of their lives. Even apart from that, the final sequence is still a majestic summary of everything you'll experience in your existence in one, final exhilarating rush.

Journey is the story, from beginning to end, of your life. And my good dear heaven, I have never been able to imbue a game with a piece of myself the way I did with Journey. No words are spoken, no communication given, and the final moment is a revelation of all those you met along the way.

This is art.
