It's odd how as a child I would catch snippets of the show and think it was boring, but now when I catch snippets of it I think it's funny. I guess I'm growing old, despite my best efforts.

But yeah, this was a very clever and entertaining show and I'm pretty happy it's coming back.

Don't know if anyone watches 'The Thick of It', but that's basically the modern equivalent to 'Yes (Prime) Minister' and I genuinely find that hard to watch due to the sheer amount of foul language, so it'll be nice to have a political satire without the constant f-bombs.

There isn't really a need to 'revive' Yes (Prime) Minister as the originals are still perfectly suitable and as cutting for today's political climate.

Perhaps they should just re-film the episodes with /exactly the same scripts/ (although they can update some of the now-anachronistic references) and as long as the new cast is as good as the original, it'd be fine.

No need to write /new/ material when the old stuff is perfect as is.

After hearing so much about how great The Thick of It was, I watched one of the specials found it funny but after I watched a few episodes it just seemed like they were repeating the same joke about politics now being more about PR than policies and Malcolm's constant cluster f'bombs grew overused.

I really enjoyed the Thick of It, but still need to watch old eps of Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister. However, I have seen clips, and it does indeed look hilarious. It'll be interesting to see if they do it right, at least.

(Regarding the use of the f word in the Thick of It, I think the swearing in general is always done beautifully. There's a certain rhythm and excellent use of how they do it. It also does get across of how constantly stressful these people's lives are. Once you get past that, I think you'll find that it works and is cleverly done. I'm hoping that Veep will be just as good.)
