im just asking but what episode of tales of monkey island do you guys think had the best ending? i think it would be Episode 4 just because of how shocking the ending was

ARGH I tried to post and it didn't work, and my entire list with descriptions was lost! So I'll just list one of my personal favorites:
I know people around here aren't big FPS fans, but I have to at least give props to the ending of the original Doom - probably the funniest ending in the history of gaming. It's also another good example of how the game pulls off that sort of eerie stylized architecture that makes it look like the emergence of Hell is changing the very laws of physics. |

That whole account is a troll. To be honest, I was tired of it long ago. They're not even being unique about it. Just some idiot. (Directed at)I'm sorry if you're someone I'm on good terms with, but yes, you're acting like an idiot. At least I sure hope it's acting.
Anyway, there are many games which I have felt had very satisfying endings. I already listed a few of my favourites, but I think I'll broaden one of my choices. I've been very comfortable with the endings to the whole Ratchet & Clank series(minus S.A.C. and A41). Not that the stories are very complex, but the story cannon games haven't let me down yet. |

i think the best scene from the whole Ratchet & Clank Series is when when Ratchet is killed by Alister and Clank risks destoring the universe just so he can go back in time and save Ratchet's life

Well i finally beat Jak 2 in The Jak & Daxter Trilogy and i will say the ending was great

Here's my list, with 1 being my favorite.
1) Grim Fandango (It was the perfect ending to Manny's story of redemption. Nothing could have been done any differently). 2) Headhunter (I was freaked out when it got to the final scene. It really put a new meaning to the ads that were sprinkled all throughout the game.). 3) Day of the Tentacle (The ending was hilarious. The X-ray scene was had me laugh out loud the first time I saw it, and the gag with the flag at the end was perfect). 4) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (I liked the camera run-over of Hyrule that showed that peace had been restored to the kingdom. It did so much without many words). 5) Psychonauts (It tied up Raz's quest to become a Psychonaut well. The ending to me didn't really seem to me to be there just for an excuse for a sequel, it was just Raz off doing what Psychonauts do, which was exactly how it should have ended IMHO since he is a Psychonaut now).

5. Final Fantasy VIII. Not only a happy ending, but an ending that doesn't beg for expansion or sequels. A great ending to a great game.
4. No More Heroes 2. A fun ending, and a decently happy one for good ol' Travis Touchdown. ----I am only giving order to these last 3 because I need to, when they really don't have any particular order.---- 3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. As much as I love Ocarina of Time and its story, Skyward Sword blew it away. The ending, even more so. The story wrapped up nicely for all the characters and it was handled very well. 2. Batman Arkham City. Everything about Arkham City was an improvement over Asylum, and the ending was no exception. I never imagined it'd have the emotional impact it did. Before I hit number 1, a couple of honorable mentions. These shift their way up and down the top 5 every once and a while depending on my mood. The first is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The second is the ever quirky Portal 2. And at Number 1...this one's really gonna get me yelled at by some...but for me, it's Mass Effect 3. As much crap as people give it, I honestly enjoyed it. Call me crazy, go ahead. I could care less. I'll enjoy my ending, thanks.

No argument over Mass Effect 3. I actually liked the ending too, even if it did leave me slack-jawed and wondering what the hell just happened. I definitely won't complain about getting some more content and closure for free, though.
This thread has made me realize how many of my favorite games actually lacked truly satisfying endings (I'm looking at you, Beyond Good & Evil). |
