Walking Dead Still Not Working

I have tried everything from the thread "The Walking Dead Technical Support FAQ - READ BEFORE CREATING A NEW THREAD" and the only thing that doesn't add up is when I put it into compatibility mode for Window 98/ME, Steam pops up an error messaging saying "Please turn off' compatibility mode'"

I should also inform you that my game does start and when I go to "Click" it says "Connecting" and then crashes.

What else can I do?

Having this exact same problem. Game won't stop "connecting", Steam won't let me launch in compatibility mode, running as admin doesn't help. This is the first Telltale game I've had real trouble getting to run on my rig.

I have a similar problem. I downloaded the game through steam. I started it up just fine. After clicking, it just says connecting and won't stop.

Edit: I should probably note that this is a game that I received a code for from Telltale due to pre-ordering.

I am having the same problem that Masta23 is having - a never ending "Connecting..." phase.

I bought TWD game through Steam, and the only problem I noted while setting up the game, was that the shortcut didn't show up on my desktop until after I rebooted my computer (which was after I played the game).

I was able to play the game through to the end (and what a great ride I had), but when I tried to reload the game after having dinner, I cannot get past the "Connecting..." page - the text scrolls across the top of the screen and the loading bars continue to move, so it isn't freezing up or anything, it just never connects. Hopefully it is obvious with this post that it isn't an internet problem (I also made sure it wasn't being blocked by the firewall).

Looking forward to a fix so I can get back into your amazing game.

I did wonder about that. It's a too bad Telltale doesn't have any place that I can find on the website that gives info on servers or status. If this is the problem, then it would be nice if this info could be posted somewhere, like maybe part of the scrolling text message about the website on the Connecting... screen.

EDIT: Was able to get past the Connecting... page, so maybe it was a server issue. Good luck to those still having problems.

Ya my game still gets the "WalkingDead101.exe has stopped working" and switching it to compatibility Windows98/ME just gives me a compatibility issue with steam. How are other people bypassing this?

I went ahead and put in a request for a refund from steam. This just isn't worth it. I"ll just play on ps3 or xbox.

I guess my problem was just a temporary server issue, this morning its working. good luck with your issues.

I'm playing on PC - my systems meets all the requirements and i too am getting the "WalkingDead101.exe has stopped working" error. I have followed all the instructions like changing compatibility (don't know what "Steam" is but didn't get that error) any other suggestions?

Have you tried this method... it worked for me.

Go into steam, go into the library, right click the walking dead game, go to properties, click the local files tab, then click verify integrity of game cache...

then try running the game...
it might help.

I'm sorry what is "Steam" I purchased directly from and downloaded from Telltale games. I do not know what "Steam" is. I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help either. I've tried all the suggestions I could find in the forums too and so far no luck - the game lets me get through all the opening screens and up to the start game point - then kicks me out.

Disconnect from the internet and play it. Simple as. It's obviously a problem on Telltales side. Works for me now! Woo!

Whoot whoo Cherryghost - you rock! It worked for me too. Disconnect from the internet and it starts right up... Thanks - may be a temporary fix but it's something.

This worked for me as well. I had to disable my nic and two vmware nics, game starts fine. I re-enabled the card after the fact.

It is now 10:04 pm Eastern standard time. I have been trying to play The Walking Dead for almost two and a half hours now. Every single time I've tried to open the game (through steam) it begins to load with a black screen, then flashes to a white screen and i can see the hourglass cursor loading icon..then after the white screen goes back to black, it shifts to grey and sends me back to my desktop with an error message that says; "Telltale games has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." After receiving this error message the first time, I assumed this would be a quick fix and tried typing that exact issue into google expecting others to have had the same issue. That was not the case. So far I've only seen others with the same error for different games. As I'm sure you can understand..I'm getting extremely frustrated with the entire process. I really would like some answers. Call me a "newb" or what have you, but it would just be awesome for this whole installation process to just be click and play. I really don't want to ask steam for a refund because this game looks awesome. But I will not stand for this bullcrap anymore.

Atomicfox91 have you tried turning off your internet? Not sure yours is the same problems but it fixed my issue right up - only wish I'd known about it earlier LOL. Good luck to you.
