Just to say the YouTube version's up now. And, once again, YouTube's completely f**ked up the still images, which is MAJOR problem because there's an absolute ton of them in this video. GOD DAMMIT.

If you can, check out the Blip video, which doesn't have these problems. Seriously, I'm on the verge of giving up on YoUTube and going to Google Videos or something. Fed up of this s**t happening.

That's so stupid! Why are they doing this? If it's to do with copyright claims then they're not allowed to do this. You're entitled to use copyright material under the fair use act, for the purpose of critical opinion.

Great video by the way. As soon as you mentioned 'Gabriel Knight 3', I knew that you would refer to the mustache puzzle.

I don't remember a puzzle revolving around peanut butter in what I'm assuming is 'Runaway'. Could you elaborate please?

Puzzles in Sierra games were always designed to be really hard so they can sell more hint books.

YouTube f**king up my videos. I've no idea why they do it. I don't actually think it's intentional, but I suspect that it's something to do with the uploading process just not liking still images. I'm going to try one or two other video sites like Veoh to see what they're like, because I've just plain had enough of YouTube doing this.

The 'Peanut and Butter' puzzle. At one point in the first Runaway game, you have to get some fireants to eat through a wooden shed. To do this, you need to lead them from their nest to the shed. One character mentions that fireants like Peanut Butter, and you find an empty Peanut Butter jar lying around.

The solution to the puzzle is to find some butter, pout it in an old army helmet, put that in the sunlight and let it melt, and then mix actual peanuts into it so that they melt into the mixture to create peanut butter.

As you might be able to tell, this is goddamn retarded. And it's not the only stupid puzzle from that game. Grr.

The shot at the 1 minute mark. That's some low-quality footage of my fidgeting around in VideoPad Video Editor, which is the software I use to put my videos together. It's meant to match the audio that "this is supposed to be a mini video type thingamajig" by showing me actually editing the video.

The moustache puzzle. It turns out this puzzle wasn't designed by Jane Jenson. Hell, it wasn't even supposed to be in the game at all! It was only included by the game's producer because they were short of time and couldn't get the actual puzzle (which involved using a hose to spray some feathers down from a bird's nest) working properly. That doesn't excuse how utterly terrible the moustache puzzle it, but it does explain it somewhat. More info here.

I got through Runaway. And yeah. Making Peanut butter like this is just wrong.

EDIT: Don't bother, it suffers the exact same problem as the YouTube video. Maybe it is on my end... Weird. I'll try looking into it tomorrow after work, since it's pretty late now.

Hmm, it does sound like it's an issue on your end. What editing software are you using?

VideoPad Video Editor. It seemed to do the job pretty well, but I guess I'll have to adjust the compilation settings.

OK, I've recompiled the video with different resolution settings and as an AVI file rather than a MP4. I gotta get to work now, so if you guys could let me know whether this works or not (once it's fully uploaded) I'd appreciate it!

You don't have to watch far to find out if it works or not - there's an image of the 'Jurassic Park - The Game' logo about 40 seconds into the video. If it holds for more than a split-second, then the problem is solved. If you barely even notice it's there, then the problem remains, and I'll probably have to switch video editing programs

EDIT: Nope! Didn't work. F**k's sake. OK, I've had enough of this. Can anyone recommend any decent video editing software? Sony Vegas is the obvious choice, but that's horribly expensive, so any other suggestions?

I can't be arsed with this shit any more. The videos are fine before I upload them, and then they get all mangled up once they're uploaded and I have absolutely no bloody idea why. I give up. I just... I sodding give up.

I've gone through and made sure that every single image has some form of motion to ensure that none of the pictures mess up in playback. If this doesn't work then I really do give up.

I'll be taking a break from these videos while I try and summon up enough energy to find a different piece of video editing software. Don't wait up.
