that's what i thought u were getting at but to me she doesn't look Asian at all and the fact that we see her parents in the photo and they are clearly African American so that would explain her magnificent fro lol

I think they honestly were afraid to make her darker because having an black protagonist and a black female child as the protagonists might be harder to sell to white gamers. there was a whole thing on Cracked.Com about racial stereotypes in hollywood today still. I'd love for a design staff person to dispute this though.

What I remember from my old geography lessons, she more look like "Zambo" type: mix of race yellow and black. I dont know if in english is same word.
