Oh, he's actually a muderer but Lee seems to believe that it was an accidental killing of another human being. The specifics of the accidental killing must still be murder since Lee had his day in court and was convicted. Still, cops have good instincts and the one that was driving Lee to prison said he didn't believe Lee did it.

Maybe Lee found them together and an argument started between the three of them. They wrestled for the gun and the senator lost his footing and fell down the stairs. Lee can then call it an accident, believe its an accident, convince a cop he didn't do it, but still be convicted of murder.

At first I thought perhaps Lee was found guilty maybe having blood on his hands after a walker killed the senator. I wanted to believe he was falsely accused.

But later on, after talking in EP2 with Carly, Lee says something like "you know what happened" and Lee has so far never denied killing the guy.

Also, in EP1 in the Pharmacy office with Clem, Lee has the option to tell Clem he once killed someone.

So, I think he did. Crime of Passion proably, but is still murder!

Lee probably killed the Senator to protect his wife after she tried to break it off and he showed up drunk.

it might be that he said he was innocent the whole time, but still got convicted, so he is just sick of defending himself to people that don't believe him, when he said you know what happened, he might have meant i don't want to explain myself again you know the story so make your own mind up, and it would be a similar thing with clementine but if you tell a child somebody lied, quite often a child would confront the person accused because that is what their parent do to them if they lie, so he might have thought it was simpler just to say he was a bad man or whatever you choose to say.

obviously just speculation, but why have we never heard the specifics if it is just that he straight forward killed a guy

I think that he's physically guiltly, but he didn't mean it/it was a crime of passion. As he said, he knew about the affair, and that you can say it was an accident.

I think a better title for the thread would be "Did Lee intend to kill the senator?" .

I like this thread, so I'm bumping it. Put it on my tab...

i don't mean to be picky, but wouldn't he have committed manslaughter not murder if he had not intentionally killed a guy but did?
so if you think it was manslaughter you would think he isn't a murderer, so being wrongfully convicted( unless that it what he was charged with but people just didn't mention the distinction between murder and manslaughter) is what has happened

I said no to murder. I say yes to manslaughter. I think it was a crime of passion. Nothing about Lee as he's let on makes him sound like a true cold blooded murderer. If he were, his wife would be dead, too.

I think he is guilty but since of the zombie outbreak I don't think it matters anymore until the kill all the zombies off and live normal lives.

I think if you sleep with someones wife knowing it is someones wife, and that person ends up shooting you. You had it coming.

But ya, Lee is a murderer.
A senator, Danny and Andy so far.

It's highly possible that it is manslaughter. I think it has to be a crime of passion, knowing what we do of Lee's character. Despite that, he probably didn't get booked with the crime he deserved. He did kill a senator, you know.

Holy shit, we overlooked something huge in the dream sequence in episode 1. After Lee's wife says "I love you", you can hear another man's voice clearly.
