RUMOR: Nintendo is attemping to buy back Rare from Microsoft

Found this last night. I hope to god that this rumor is true. If it is, it wouldve took Nintendo 10 years to realize that Microsoft is messing up bigtime with Rare. So if Nintendo gets Rare back, it would be a freaking dream come true.

That doesn't mean anything. The people who made those great games in the Nintendo + Rare days don't work at Rare anymore.

Read the article. It says the main reason for this is so Nintendo can get the rights to Banjo-Kazooie.

...so I guess this is supposed to be exciting or something? The corporate entity that published the Rareware games and the corporate entity that once contained the people who worked on the Rareware titles may be financially reunited so the latter corporate entity can add a back-catalog of brands back into their ownership. This is exciting on a consumer level....how?

I just want Nintendo to hand Banjo-Kazooie to Retro. A BK side-scroller could work really well.

Who cares? As some people have pointed out in this thread already, anyone who worked at Rare that could make a decent game don't work there anymore. Does Rare even still make games?

The point isn't the acquisition of Rare, it's the acquisition of a property that can then be handed to a better company.

I do seriously think Rare's done nothing wrong since being acquired, though. Hope they stick with MS for the rest of the company's lifespan.
