Default Mosquitos and Zombies

Most of us know about the mosquito and West Nile virus problem in North Texas, specifically the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. As I heard the planes spraying over areas last night, it got me thinking about mosquitos in the world of "The Walking Dead". Since mosquitos transmit viruses and other little pesky microscopic critters, it would be a problem. Since "The Walking Dead" is set in the South, I would say you have a big problem. Well, It's more of a problem if your close to a populated area of walkers.
We all know that everyone who is still alive is infected with the dormant zombie virus until it activates after death. As we've seen and heard, a walker bite will kill and turn the victim quicker. So logic says, a mosquito that has bitten a walker carrying the activated virus will eventually activate the virus in a living person. Hmmm... Not only do you need weapons, but now you have to search for mosquito repellent. Or, just hope for a very long and cold winter. That really sucks.

Only humans can carry the zombie virus so your point is invalid.

Ah... something I didn't think about. Mosquitos are attracted by Carbon Dioxide, heat, and certain acids on the skin. So I guess Walkers wouldn't be a mosquitos choice of food. But, you never know.

The only way this would work is if mosquitos carried blood to another and infected them because contact with the blood of a zombie turned them into zombies. This isn't true because of what Kirkman has said about zombie bites: it doesn't transfer anything. You die of an infection and - like everyone - rise again as the undead. A mosquito bite hasn't killed anyone by not healing. If it doesn't heal quickly, you don't bleed out or anything. You just have a gross spot.

In any other zombie universe - specifically ones with an established cause of the disease - yes, a mosquito could transfer something between infected and uninfected if they were attracted to such an unappetizing corpse (as you said). Here in the less clear world of Walking Dead, probably not.

So the bites are actually causing death through infection? I have never read the novels, but that is interesting. I am assuming that the infection causes death extra fast for some specific reason?

I doubt that a mosquito would feed from a dead person in order to start the cycle. But it doesn't really matter in the first place if everyone is infected anyway.

Maybe it originated from per-historic bacteria pulled up in a core sample. Maybe it's mutated monkey pee spread by precipitation. Maybe the Earth tilted the wrong way in its solar orbit causing a weird cancer. Maybe aliens beamed the infection down and are live streaming pay for view back to their home planet.

I think mosquito won't be attracted to the walkers..
I still haven't seen the walkers scratching themselves because a mosquito bites them..
