Spoilers! Lee's nightmare / Why would so many people...

Did anyone else jump when Clementine jumped onto Lee during his nightmare? It actually got me pretty good my TV was turned loud too.

Any who onto the main topic.

Why would so many people

SHOOT DUCK?

75% of players (Xbox) choose to kill Duck instead of having Kenny do it. Kenny was protecting Duck and you had no rights to shoot him.

This is like Ben shooting Clementine...If anything were to happen to her and she had to be killed the only people in the right of doing that are

Her parents. (If they're still around)
You.

It's not like I shot Duck out of the blue, Kenny and Katjaa were obviously really messed up about him and they thanked Lee for relieving the burden.

and yes I jumped during the nightmare, I was really devastated until I realised it was just a dream

What the hell are you talking about? Lee has permission to kill Duck to relieve Kenny and Kaatjas burdens...

I figured if Kenny really wanted to kill Duck himself, he would have objected when I told him I would do it. He didn't, both times I offered.

I shot Duck because I saw what Kenny and Katjaa were going through. I knew they didn't want to do it themselves. I also did it for Kenny at the end so he could at least think to himself that he didn't physically end his son's life. He was almost gone sure, but he was still alive. At least he didn't have to go through the horror of that. I'd actually do the same thing if something similar happened in real life too.

I'd rather carry Ducks death burden myself. Kenny has enough to hate himself over. If Clem turned I wouldn't be strong enough to kill her

I was originally going to shoot duck. I couldn't shoot my son if I had one. But after katjaa died, I let Kenny do it.

Why didn't I make the grieving widower shoot his kid in the melon?

I think Duck would have appreciated Batman willing to break his no killing creed for Robin.

I completely disagree. Having to take your own child's life is not something any parent would ever want to do. Nor did they need to see it happen. It was hard enough for Kenny to even come to terms that his child was dying and stop the train to do what needed to be done. As for Katjaa, the thought was so unbearable that she took her own life before it happened.

So 75% of players chose to help their friend out.

I wanted to suggest letting Duck remain a walker. Give him the "Jim ending". Instead, all that shit went down.

I let Kenny do it.. It was his son, his final act as a father to relive his son's suffering, his responsibility!

It makes me think about a couple of Stephen King stories, Home Delivery and Pet Sematary. In both, characters discuss the idea of people needing to "handle their own" when it comes to killing/burying relatives. Home Delivery deals specifically with Romero-style zombies and a small island town's effort to kill all their deceased loved ones. There is some sense in the idea that you should be responsible for putting your own child out of his misery. Still, I chose to take the burden off Kenny because for one thing I wasn't sure he'd do it if given the choice. He gave me his blessing, so I felt alright taking the responsibility. The game should really have given me the option to send Kenny back to the train beforehand, though.

I just wish Kat had thought about how she'd be leaving Kenny to face the world alone. Suicide when you have nothing left or you're bitten is one thing, but because you can't face the loss of your child is not a good enough reason to desert your husband. They could have helped each other through the loss together.

This episode has quite a few little hidden options.

*cough*

I'm sorry but that is cold. From a realistic stand point a parent should never have to kill their child.

Really? I didn't really notice. So here's what I'm going to try to find any hidden options.

-When you decide to let Lilly to stay or leave, I'm going to do nothing and let the timer run out-

-I'm going to insist on Kenny killing Duck in the beginning instead of Kaatja to see what happens if nothing special happens and kaatja still dies, I'm going to vvvvvv(option below this) because I already let Kenny shoot him.-

-I'm going to kill Duck myself and wait to see if he turns into a walker.-

-Maybe I can tell Kenny that 'it'll be alright' instead of 'SHOOT HIM/DO IT' or nothing at all...-

I killed the walker asap when it was attacking duck and kaatja. And let Kenny kill it. Doesn't matter he still gets bitten.

You're getting me excited. I would love if you could tell me any of my options I listed actually leads to a hidden option.

i let kenny do it at first... i didn't want to get my hands dirty... but then my game froze. i felt so bad. it tore ken up having to shoot his son like a sick dog out in the back woods. when i reloaded it, i decided to do the deed and i dont regret it. no parent should have to face that, especially after watching their spouse die like he did.

also, yes. i did jump and scream when Lee had his dream. i was playing it in a dark room, curtains drawn, tv up and it came allofasudden... i'm usually not so jumpy, but i didn't expect that. i hope it isn't foreshadowing.

(off topic, but about that scene... clem turns right after the camera pans to a leaky faucet. the camera held on that water dripping for so long and then bam... zombie clem. i thought back to me drinking water at clems house and how "we are all infected" and i wonder if somehow the water was tainted and thats how the "virus" spread...)

Arthur tells us theirs hidden options but don't pull an arkham asylum which was out a month at least before the designers had to tell someone about how to get the hidden room. if you don't want to give us all the example give us one spoiler tagged alternate that nobodys noticed. or if only one person had quote them
