I actually looked at Kat's suicide as odd when it happened. Considering we don't actually see it, and all we know about is a gunshot and Kenny screaming, "No!" it seems kind of odd. Not odd because of the suicide, but more so on how Kenny reacts to it. The guy just has tears in his eyes for a second, then gets up and allows his son to be killed.
One of my thoughts was that Kenny, in a fit of panic, might have killed Kat. That doesn't make too much sense, due to the situation with his son right after, but he just took the whole scene a little too well in my opinion. Maybe he was trying to protect Duck? Who knows, although that theory is kind of shaky due to the before mentioned.
I also agree that for a woman that stated that guns make her uncomfortable, her taking her life out of the blue was a little off (Especially with said weapon). The above posters make good points, but that scene just didn't set right with me. :P
