Other than a bit of different dialog at the hotel in the beginning of Ep 3, did the decision to steal the food from the car really matter?

I expected a bigger event to occur as a result of that decision.

Bit of dialogue referencing it in episode 3.

I think it just ultimately amounted to a moral decision. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm kinda hoping that these moral decisions will matter later when they find Clem's parents...

Clem could either praise Lee or criticise Lee to her parents, based on the totality of his decisions.

I'm sure they went through the supplies pretty fast. They were starving and in desperate need when they came across it. And EP 3 is a considerable amount of time later.

By the time of EP. 3 you're back to raiding Macon for more stuff. So I'm not surprised the station wagon looting isn't of much importance later by the beginning of Long Road. It was more immediate than that.

If you don't steal the food, Clem is still wearing her original clothing in Episode 3 instead of what I hear is a nifty new hoodie.

I think that's if they find her parents. I'm sure there will be some sort discussion but it will revolve more around his criminal past.

I think regardless of finding her parents, Clem will average Lee's actions and react to your playstyle in the end. Whether it's shooting you in the back or praising you as you die is anyone's guess.

I'm pretty certain Clem's dad is either dead or a zombie. Her said he was attacked by some crazy guy.

Also: You kind of play the game for your own fun. So even if it doesn't matter for the future within the game, it matters for your interpretation (or identification) of (with) Lee.

I think eventually Lee will find some kind of stolen item on Clem. Maybe Kenny's wedding ring she was gonna go to the pawn shop with?

No, it's not you fool. It's been one week. Listen to the dialogue between Lily and Lee towards the beginning.
