Ep 3 can't get past train station walkers

So in episode 3 when your in the train station and the walkers appear behind you and you have to hold w to back up to get to the wrench thats holding the door open for the life of me I can't get this to work, i've read that you have to press the 2 key to select the pick up option tried that and nothing and almost every time I can't even get the cursor to hover over the wrench so how the hell do you get past this stupid part of the game, I was really enjoying the whole story up to this point but this is now ruining this game for me, someone please help.

Use your scroll wheel or 1,2,3, or 4 to select the wrench and move onto the next scene.

Don't bother punching them. Back away with the S key until you are with your back to the door. HIGHLIGHT the hand icon over the wrench and go to work.

You should be able to figure it out from there. I had problems with this sequence, too. The problem is that the icon is against a light background and it's hard to make out when you have the action (hand) icon highlighted.

It wont let me select the wrench either. Driving me crazy! It's like the mouse gets stuck and wont move to it. I have tried this over and over and am getting sick of it.

Thanks guys, after about 6 more attempts I finally got Lee to pick up the damn wrench and then of course it took about 4 trys to kill the third walker because I couldn't get Lee to target it properly before I died but I finally got there.
Great ending with the mass of walkers and with the guy on the walkie talkie, looking forward to the next episode now.
