Default IndieGameStand

IndieGameStand is a new site for promoting indie games through 96 hour pay-what-you-want sales whenever a new game is released on the site. Many games will come with Steam and Desura keys according to the site. If you register before the launch September 26th you'll get the platformer Chester for free.

I think the concept looks pretty interesting, but then indie titles are pretty much the only games I play when it comes to modern games, besides my guilty pleasure Diablo 3.

I'm liking the idea behind this. Like, a LOT. I can easily imagine spending a surprising amount of money on stuff through this. Oh well, I didn't need that money for anything important!

Note 1: when signing up, check your Spam filter. My e-mail verification, uh, e-mail got flagged as spam by GMail.

Note 2: The free version of Chester you get for signing up doesn't appear to register on Desura.

Same here. Even though I don't have near as many games as others here, I have trouble passing up a good sale if there's anything I like, even if it might be something I only end up playing for a few hours.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I'm also on GMail and the same thing happened to me.

It seems like only the DRM free download is available so far. It's up for voting on Steam Greenlight though, so maybe we'll see it there in the future. It hasn't gotten many votes yet though.

And the site is up.

The first featured game is Escape Goat. I've got a feeling I've heard of it before, but I don't know from where. It looks pretty interesting and I might give it a shot when I'm done with P. B. Winterbottom. It got a 8/10 on IGN.

It's only available for Windows and comes with a Desura key. Additionally 10% of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross, which is the charity of the developer's choosing. I have to say I like the concept of letting the developers choose a charity themselves.

There's only been 76 sales so far, even though the launch was several hours ago, so it's not exactly a flying start. It will be interesting to see how successful this model will become.

It's up to 150 sales at time of posting.

Honestly, it's been so long since the site went up I'd forgotten all about it. Good thing I signed up when I did or I'd never have gotten the e-mail telling me about this.

Same.

Even when I got the email, it was a "what the hell is this?" moment.

It's at 220 sales now (well, 221 after I bought it). This game's right up my alley, as platformers are my second favorite genre after adventure games, and I really like puzzle platformers (Tasha's Game being my favorite in the genre so far from what I've played).

Its a pretty nice game.

I got it in a bundle before and played it a bit.
Sadly though, my lappy died and the game is one of many on there.
(Hopefully I'll get a new one on Friday so I could then do a switcharoo on the harddrives, and hey presto! I got my stuff back on a machine with more firepower! )

The game up now is the space themed puzzle game SpaceChem, and it includes GOG.com, Steam, and Desura keys. Like last time, paying more than the average (currently $2.71 USD) gets you extras, such as the game's soundtrack and concept art.

347 were purchased so far and there's still 86 hours left. It looks like IndieGameStand might be slowly catching on.

Now that they've actually started releasing games, I'd imagine it would

Gnomoria is the game up now. It's a "sandbox village management game where you help lead a small group of gnomes, who have set out on their own, to thrive into a bustling kingdom."

Haha, but yeah, true.

Although IndieGameStand seems to be gaining interest with each new game. The newest game is at 2,561 games sold with just under 56 hours left.

Y'know what? They need to actually start releasing games I give a shit about. That'd be nice.

I'm not sure if someone can both not care about Escape Goat and SpaceChem while simultaneously being a good person.

They are both great games, but I do see DM's point.
Those games have been around for quite a while, in bundles and that.

This game isn't for me personally. Doesn't look exactly bad, but its giving me bad memories of Dwarf Fortress.
(That game... too much to take in all at once... HEAD ASPLOSION!!)

I've only bought Escape Goat so far, but I'm pretty sure I've got Space Chem from some bundle or something from before.

I kind of had the impression that games would be available for a fixed price after the initial pay what you want period was over, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

They seem to be off to a good start quality wise in my opinion, but I'm hoping for some more Linux games in the future.

There's a good deal up at IndieGameStand this time.

The Geneforge Saga, a compilation of all 5 games in the Geneforge RPG series. Keys are available to redeem the games on Steam and GOG.com.

The last game, Really Big Sky, didn't seem worth mentioning, and it didn't sell too well.

The current game is Brainpipe: A Plunge to Unhumanity. It includes a Steam key if you pay at least a dollar and a bonus game, Blob’s Organism, plus several game soundtracks if you beat the average.

If you got the May Hurray bundle when it was available you already own both games, so I doubt this one will sell all that much. Since I didn't I'm a bit curious about it. Anyone know if it's worth getting?

I've heard the same. I have it from a bundle and haven't touched it because of that.
