Episode 4 Xbox version deleted my progress

I just installed episode 4 on Xbox and as is tarted to play it it decided to load up chapter one instead and delete all my progress. Now my save file only allows me to start at the very beginning. Are you debs working on this and will I be able to get my save file back?

The new patch did the same for me and deleted my save file and overwrote it with an episode 1 save. I'm done with this series -- luckily I hadn't bought ep. 4 yet.

Hey guys, sorry you ran into an issue with missing save games. For Xbox, try this fix:

1. Go into the game.
2. Log out of your gamertag.
3. Log back in. This should take you to the main game screen and prompt you for a location (cloud or HDD).
4. Your saved games should show up now.

Also make sure that you have the Title Update, which is required to access episodes beyond the first one.

That will no longer work. On attempting to play episode 4, it started the game at episode 1 and saved over my existing save - twice. This means I now only have a save point at the beginning of episode 1.

Please make sure the correct save slot is loading. There are users reporting that only 1 save slot is being recognized. We are working on a fix for this issue, but until then please look into the sticked thread Here to see if this is what you are experiencing. There is also a posted workaround that might help.

I experienced this issue MATT P. Until I came on here I thought 'Playing' on my other slot previous episodes would solve it NOW I have lost my Game 1 slot thinks I've never played EP4 how do I get my decisions back for this slot?!

This isn't what I'm experiencing. Here's a summary of my issue, which may be related or a different manifestation of the same issue. But it's definitely causing a partial loss of progress:

-Only 1 save slot (#1) was used to complete Episodes 1, 2, and 3 and part of Chapter 4
-Loaded Save Slot 1, launched Episode 4
-Game launches into episode 1
-Quitting game immediately updates progress in save to beginning of chapter 1, losing any progress in Chapter 4

I tried the quick fix for my slot one problem. But i cant do it because I've already beat episode 4! i had two files. One where i made lots of Kenny decisions and one where i made lots of against Kenny decisions. Now i'm stuck with the slot two game which is the against kenny game! I have no idea why my game keeps saying nope lets use slot 2 but it's pissing me off! I love this game but i'm hatting allt he issues with it.
I also tried the achievement thing for the damn game that xbox suggested and it got rid of ALL the things i'd already earned. Now i have to play episode 4 again! UGH!

Please try logging out of your profile, and once returned to the Title Screen, log back in and then try to reload your save.

If slot 2 is loading, and is not in Episode 4, then continue to play off of this slot until you reach episode 4. If you do not intend to play this slot, then load episode 4 directly with random choices, and then try the workaround. If this slot has a completed Episode 4, you can continue your game and it will load to the final scene in the game. Replay the very end of the game, and once the credits are over and you are returned to the Main Menu, you should be able to access your other slots. To avoid this problem occurring again, always exit the game through the Main menu.

I had the same problem.

Twice now I've tried to load my game and had it erase all of my progress and start me over from the beginning.

The first time I was trying to load a second save file as a new game but it kept loading the first save file instead and asking me if I wanted to rewind. I chose yes which was my fault but I don't get why it kept refusing to load the appropriate save.

I was annoyed but I wanted to play over anyway...so whatever. Note my second save file slot still says it's empty because it refused to load it.

The second time I clicked on my save (I only have one), it went to Episode 4 where I had left off in the middle, I clicked play...and it loads from the very beginning of Episode 1! With no prompt for if I wanted to rewind or anything! All of my progress lost for the second time!

What gives??

This is exactly what just happened to me. I've only been using the 1 save slot (#1), which I used to complete the first three episodes, and part of episode 4.

I heard there was some issue with exiting the game so I've been going back to the main menu before exiting, every time I played a part of Episode 4.

Now when I launched the game, chose cloud storage which is what I've been using, it showed episode 4, and I chose to continue the game. All of a sudden Episode 1 started up. I chose to go back to the menu, and play the game. It had an Episode 1 save instead of my Episode 4 save.

I tried signing out of my profile, while on the main menu, and signing back in. I chose the cloud storage again, and I still only see a Episode 1 save.

Update: I've been using the cloud to save my game files so I thought I might check my HDD to see if there was a game save there. I found one that says it was created back in June, so I copied that to the cloud, and then launched the walking dead again. It looks like I have the option of checking the status of episodes 1-3, and they all seem to show the options I picked. I then went to episode 4 and chose to play it. It started episode 1 instead. If Telltale wants to fix this bug, I think it may have to do with launching the episode (4).

Also, the note on the stickey says "Please note: Always exiting the game from the Main Menu (as opposed to using the home button, for instance) will avoid this issue!" This doesn't work because that is what I was doing. Ofcourse I wonder if the realy issue isn't with the save file, but episode 4's menu launching the wrong episode, and that's why the game save changes.

Needless to say, I'm not going to try again until I hear there is an update, AND I'm not going to buy episode 5 either.

I had the same issue happen tonight...loaded up the game went to my save file, went to ep 4 hit the play button and boom...loads ep 1...now all of my progress, decisions and everything is gone.

what is most frustrating was that I was playing ep 4 earlier today and everything was fine, now this evening everything is gone. What makes it even worse is that this game is designed to be emotional investing (meaning you are suppose to care about the people and your decisions) and now that my save file is gone I don't know if I want to or have the motivation to go through all of that again.

I was really looking forward to ep 4 and the final ep 5, but I just don't know if I'll ever go back and now that other games such as Assassins Creed is out, Black Ops II, Halo 4 and a bunch of other games are scheduled to be coming out I don't think I'll have time to go back.

Sad and mad that this issue was not caught before the game was released or that a warning (if you knew about it earlier) was not posted somewhere so that I could have avoided the issue. Irresponsible.

I deleted Episode 4 & then I went onto The Walking Dead and I re-downloaded it on the game,it worked and I completed it after I got it on my first save which I couldn't access.This was last night.

Are you saying that your save file worked after the re-install? If so, I hope this works. I deleted episode 4 & redownloaded it the day after I ran into this, but I'm going to wait until sometime this weekend so I can play episode 4 to completion before I try again.

No fix works. Hours of game play lost. Do not buy this product. What a shame.
