That's what Iv been doing with WWE games since I was a little kid.

A stiff piece of disgrace to the serie. Had it's moments, though.

For bad acting, poor storytelling.

The story itself is decent, but the way plot twists are revealed is lame. Sure, Tidus' fate is a small surprise, but Jekt being Sin is revealed in the first hour of gameplay so it's neither a twist nor spoilery to talk about, and Yuna's quest has been explained so many times by so many people as being futile, that her decision at the end isn't a twist as much as a final dose of common sense.

edit: Also, blitzballs should be Tidus' primary weapon, but aren't because that honor is given to Wakka, whose blitzball team has never won a game before ever.

I would also say Final Fantasy X-2 for requiring a strategy guide to know what conversations are required (and easily missed) to get the proper ending, but the story is kinda decent, the world is non-linear, the jobs system creative (though cheesy) and Yuna and Rikku are hot.

I liked that game. You just have to get beyond that there's no lead protagonist.

It's a heck of a lot better than FFX, anyway, in my opinion.

Yes there is. He's just boring as ****. I'd rather the game follow Balthier. He's the Final Fantasy equivalent of Han Solo. But no, we get Vaan, who's about as exciting as watching paint dry. Not to mention an overly-political story that is about as exciting as The Phantom Menace and an overly clunky and unresponsive crap-tastic battle system.

Well that's the thing. The character you're given control of isn't the main character of the story. Once you accept (if you can) that you're just a bit part in a much larger story, it becomes more entertaining.

Well, it also didn't help that I took a break from it for a bit, came back, had no idea what was going on, what had happened, where I was, and what I was fighting for. It left that little impression on me.

I've always felt that Escape isn't quite as bad as many say. The story and characters were the most disappointing part, and the only people that really effects are those that were already fans of the series (I"ve noticed that if Escape was someone's first Monkey Island, they tend to have fond memories of it).

Aside from the Grim-esque controls, retcons, and the (in my opinion) not very Monkey Island-y story, I think it was a solid adventure game, though Escape had some of the most obtuse puzzles in the series.

If anything, I think it deserves to be remembered to show future Monkey Island writers that retcons, overdoing the anachronisms, and removing most of the piratey elements from the setting only serves to upset many existing Monkey Island fans.

Escape was boring. I tried to go into it with an open mind. And I was so mind-numbingly bored before I even met the voodoo lady that I just gave up. My wife and I both. And she was new to the series and we were playing through them together. She loves Monkey Island. We could not get into that one.

Escape was not only my first Monkey Island game, but my first adventure game. Before then, I didn't even know games could be funny (I only played RTS). I didn't even know that there were other games in the series or even other adventure games until years later.

As a result, Escape is probably the single most-played adventure game that I own, cause as a kid I must have played it through dozens of times trying to find new dialogue. And I'm not even sure I got it all. Only last year when I was replaying it, I managed to get an entirely new conversation that I never knew existed just by switching up the order that I completed puzzles.

Of course, now I see that it hasn't aged well and that using the arrow keys to navigate is clunky... especially since the standard now is to use WASD (though I did manage to reconfigure the controls to make the whole experience run more smoothly). I would say that the beginning is fairly slow, but was perfect for a new adventure gamer like me because I only had to deal with a few items and when I first played, I didn't even know you could pick stuff up. Lucre and Jambalaya Island were a joy to play though.

I always start losing steam when I get to Monkey Island. Then again, I don't even like Monkey Island in the original. It always seemed so barren and that really doesn't improve in Escape (well, except for the ghost priest in the Church of LeChuck. I always found him hilarious).

FFX > FFXII . I thought FFX's world was a lot more engaging and imaginative.

I spent more time with XII than with X. But I think that the whole series went down the drain from X in any case, and XIII is no exception. Exploration and engaging level up systems always were the series' strength. Cut both out, what are you left with? A couple of nice looking FMV.

I'm one of the few that actually liked XIII, but it's nowhere near being my favorite of the series. My favorite is actually one you don't hear about often, and that's VIII. Great story, engaging characters, interesting magic mechanics, and (GASP) a happy ending!

I used to hate eight. Thought it was too emo and that Squall was just a cheap Cloud. Then I got a bit older, realized I was that guy for a while, and had to grow a lot like he did (although in slightly less cliched ways). So yeah it turned into one of my favorites.
