Default Disappointed Windows 8 User

It seems whatever incompatibility with Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit that's going around has hit me as well. I've tried running the game in various combinations of compatibility modes with and without running as administrator, unplugged my Xbox wireless controller, Logitech G13, Logitech G19, and offering a sacrifice to Odin...with no success.

System Info:
Processor: AMD 1090T BE
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3072MB
RAM: 16GB
OS: Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit (System Builder, not upgrade)
Urge to kill: Rising.

I'd love to hear a fix, but would gladly accept an official "We know this is a problem and we're working on it." since this doesn't seem to be an isolated problem.

After far more scouring than should be necessary, I did find this version of the dinput8.dll file that seems to let me launch the game, finally.

1) Download http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-.../download.html
2) Extract to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead
3) Start the game and enjoy it despite its apparent objection to you having a good time.

Before the new dll, I did have Windows 98 compatibility and Run as Administrator set on WalkingDead101.exe, but after it was launching, I was able to turn both off and things seem to be working still. We'll see, but my hopes aren't high.

The .dll provided on post #15 at http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/...d.php?p=697804 made the controller work for me. It's an older .dll. Don't let the linked site run their scan crap.
